This scrub is easy to make and also softens your hands while you rub it on your feet. I use it as an all over exfoliant in the shower, but its best purpose is really to exfoliate and soften those hard working feet.

Material

  • 1/4 Cup dry rice
  • 1 Tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 - 2 Tbsp olive oil

Method

  1. Grind the dry rice in a food processor or Mortar and pestle. Play around with the consistency of the rice; you don't want it to be fine or too course.
  2. Mix all the ingredients together using enough olive oil to make it into a paste.
  3. Before you start the scrubbing organise a towel and a bucket of warm water to rinse.
  4. Massage it into your feet (or get someone that loves you to do it for you). Give it a good scrub and then leave it on for 20 minutes or until the kids needs you.
  5. Rinse off with warm water.

  • This sounds really interesting! I love an exfoliating skin moment, especially the feet with some comfy socks immediately after.

  • All my life I have just rubbed my feet with a pumice stone while I was showering. I have never had course skin on my feet because of this practice and throughout summer I am almost always in thongs. Many of my friends have asked how me feet [heels] never crack and that’s what I tell them to do. It’s easy to do, it is cheap, and your feet will love your for doing it. Your skin scrub remedy sounds nice, but why go to all that trouble if you don’t have to?

  • I wonder if you could use just sand and water? I’m guessing you just need something course to scrub and then some liquid to bind it together.

  • I love the “get someone who loves you to do it for you” line. That’s brilliant! Not sure my husband would approve his beloved rice being used for anything other than cooking! But sounds so lovely, and I’ll wager the honey makes it smell nice too

  • It would take a few experimental goes at making this as it would take a few goes to get the rice at just the right size
