Discount supermarket Aldi has announced they’re bringing back their adult-only wine advent calendars and Australian stores will stock them too!

In August we first shared that “Back by popular demand, the 2018 Aldi Wine Advent Calendar will feature a fabulous new design to create the perfect centrepiece – after all, what could be better for getting in the Christmas spirit than an adult advent calendar full of wonderful wine?” Aldi said in a statement.

Hidden behind each door of the $70 calendar is a mixture of 24 mini bottles of either red, white, sparkling and rosé wines for you to enjoy each and every day.

The supermarket chain has also revealed that they’re launching a CHEESE advent calendar this year.

The cheese advent calendar features 24 imported mini cheeses and is a little more affordable at $12.99.

While we know the advent calendars are being sold in both the US and UK from 4 November, it does not look like they will be available in Australia.

Numerous Facebook messages to ALDI Australia’s Facebook page are calling on the local arm of the company to bring the product here.

One Australian Facebook user wrote: “I saw a video post about Aldi bringing out a wine advent calendar in the U.K. — wondering if we will be lucky enough to get it in Australia?”

Another asked: “Is there some kind of petition we can sign to get the wine advent sold in Australia? Even better would be an Australian wine advent calendar using Australian wine.”

Another asked: “ALDI will you be doing this in Australia this year please???.
Please, … say yes!”

ALDI Australia have told shoppers on social media that they would let their team know there is demand for the calendar here.

In one message, the ALDI Australia social media team replied by saying: “We have stores in a number of different countries, and we offer different products in each depending on the demand locally. We will let the team know you would love to see the Wine Advent Calendar available in our stores for Christmas with Australian Wines. Thanks for posting.”

But when News Corp Australia asked ALDI Australia last year whether the product has a chance of coming here in reality, the answer was no.

An ALDI Australia spokesman told News Corp Australia: “ALDI operates in a number of countries, in which varying products are sold in each market. At this stage, the wine advent calendar will not be available in Australian ALDI stores.”

Fingers crossed they change their minds this year!

Aldi have responded to one customers plea saying, “Thanks for your suggestion, we’ll share this with the buying team to consider for our 2018 Christmas range. Just 124 days to go!”

Our prayers were answered!

ALDI Australia is launching beer and wine calendars, on sale from November 14, at a cost of $79.99, the 24 Days of Celebration Wine Advent Calendar comes with 24 French wines in compact piccolo bottles, shares Daily Telegraph.

They will also stock a Christmas Beer Advent Calendar, which costs $59.99, features 24 premium beers from around the world including Peroni, Corona and Asahi.

ALDI’s Christmas advent calendars will be available as part of its Special Buys next Wednesday, November 14.

  • Why do people keep supporting a German company instead of Australian owned. Alcohol should not be sold at supermarkets either, we have too much of a drinking culture in this country and it is causing a lot of harm.

    • Have a look at who owns our major super markets,Just about everything sold in ALDI is Australian,Please do your own research and not listen to outsmarted Dick Smith.Cheer’s Krusty.

  • I was most upset today to be told by the Manager at the Arndale Aldi in Adelaide that South Auatralia won’t be getting these FANTASTIC adult only Advent Calendars. They were only being sold at the Eastern States stores which allow liquor to be sold. If this is the case why can’t Aldi allow them to be purchased only? It’s not fair to get our hopes up. I wanted to surprise my husband who does so much for us.
