As mums, we all try out best to keep our homes in tip top shape, but as mums, we also realize that this is most likely NOT going to happen!

With kids underfoot, work and everyday life getting in the way, we usually end up too frazzled and tired to keep every room in the house in excellent condition. This can definitely be said for the bathroom of the home. The bathroom is usually the most despised area for cleaning but is one room that can easily become an oasis for the busy mum. Your bathroom may be a place of dirty towels and toothpaste sticky counters now, but with a few simple tricks, you can soon have a bathroom that feels like heaven!

Check out these simple renovation tips that will help you have a new and inviting bathroom design to enjoy!

Spruce up with Color

One way to change up the look and feel of your bathroom is with color. Visit your local paint store and choose a nice new color for your bathroom. Then get to work! After only a few hours, you will have begun a new bathroom design that is sure to provide a cleaner, crisper look to the space. Choose a calming color in a neutral tone to have a spa like feel and keep you relaxed while you enjoy a nice bath or quiet time away from the kids!

Change Your Linens

Another great piece of bathroom design advice is linens. The linens in the bathroom can make all the difference. Most busy moms do not have time to worry about fresh and fluffy towels. Most of us use old, ratty towels that are one hole shy of disintegration! Take this time to purchase nice, luxurious linens to give your bathroom a fresh look and added comfort. This does not have to be expensive or take a lot of time and effort. Just consider your color scheme and purchase new towels to replace your existing ones!

New Fixtures

One of the best changes a mom can make in the bathroom for overall rest and relaxation is to change out the fixtures. Opt for more relaxing showerhead in the shower or go crazy and add in a jetted tub. Any fixture change can be made to give you a more relaxing bath time and an added lock on the door might not hurt either! Keep the kiddies away for a little bit longer!

Add Ambiance

Lighting is another feature that is important to the bathroom of the home. If you have harsh lighting in the room, it may not be the relaxing place you imagine or desperately need after a long day. Changing out the lighting in your bathroom and designing a lighting scheme can be a quick fix to a nicer space. You can choose to add a completely new light fixture or you can add a dimmer to the space to create a darker space. Add candles and you can have a nice relaxing time in the tub!

Total Overall

In the end, you may decide to completely overall the bathroom space. Whatever steps you choose to take, whether they be large or small changes, do what makes you happy! It may be a stressful undertaking but in the end you will have a great space that will provide you with the comfort and relaxation you need as a busy mom!

  • Completely agree – a “face-lift” instead of a compete re-do is just as effective without the price tag! Same goes for the kitchen – get some new metal handles instead of the old plastic ones and even just that change makes a huge difference!

  • The bathroom such a widely used room & often is the last to get treatment, I don’t even think it’s due to lack of time/money (because they can be small inexpensive changes), it’s more like not wanting to spend yet MORE time in there lol.
