Hello!

Being Aussie is bonza and being an Aussie kid is ace – but giving your kid a bogan name? Stone the flamin’ crows, don’t be such a dag, mate!

We asked the top blokes and ripper sheilas in the Mouths of Mums community to tell us the most bogan names they’d ever heard, and ta very much we were blown away!

From baby names that pay homage to Aussie made classic cars to name that belong at the bottle-0, these are Australia’s best bogan baby names.

Australia’s Best Bogan Baby Names

Not James. Just Bond. I’m shaken and stirred.

This kid’s fast.

Pistol Blaze

This has disaster written all over it.

Blade

Perhaps anticipating a smart (or pretty sharp) kid?

Would this one be any better if the spelling was correct?

A Mouths of Mums follower says this name belonged to a child that went to her son’s school. Talk about building up your kids’ confidence!

Thainesia

Named after a restaurant, apparently.

Miami

Is it bogan to name your Aussie kid after a location in the US? (Ok, we know there’s also a Miami on the Gold Coast!)

Ford & Holden

For twins. Seriously.

“My two sons went to primary school with a Ford and a Holden and they used to line them up for races, these kids were 6 and my boys were 11 and 12. Then about a month ago I met a bloke who was mid twenties and his name was Holden turns out it was the same guy and he remembered the races well, he’s also obsessed with Holdens.” – Mouths of Mums follower

Malibu

See above, re: Miami.

Short, sharp and possibly bogan.

Talon

Speaking of sharp.

“Sharone – for a boy – because the parents liked the song My Sharona.” – Mouths of Mums follower

At least it’s not Crystal Palace?

L-A

Pronounced Le Dasha. Really.

Brogan

So close to Bogan. So close.

Mercedes

When Aussie car names are too bogan. Aim high.

Mayor

A future leader.

Rampage

Future wrestler name sorted.

Felony

Sigh.

“My son goes to school with a girl named Areola. Also a lady walked past my house about 10 years ago and yelled, ‘Delta, Koehler and Moen, get yo asses back here right now.'” – Mouths of Mums follower

Why are car names so bogan?

While Atticus has been a reasonably popular boys name over the years, this gem has been relegated to bogan status.

Perhaps a nod to the ‘King of the Mountain’ Peter Brock.

Apparently this sweet name is no longer reserved for Earth-loving hippies.

“Her other child’s name was Tuscany.” – Mouths of Mums follower

Lyryk

Is it the spelling or the sentiment?

“Aioli Holden (I think the kid should sue the parents lol)” – Mouths of Mums follower

“Two sisters named: Tallis and Webcke. No joke. Why???” – Mouths of Mums follower

A play on the super popular (and not at all bogan) Mason.

Country or bogan? You decide.

Like sands through the hourglass …

What??

A unique (some might say bogan) twist on the spelling of River.

  • I feel sorry for the kids having to grow up with some of these weird names. What were the parents thinking

    Reply

  • Interesting list of names. Not ones I would consider but each to their own I guess.

    Reply

  • Mayhem is pretty bad and should be on the list

    Reply

  • I prefer common name
.easy to remember and to write

    Reply

  • I prefer more traditional names, so I guess it didn’t come as a surprise to me that none of my kids names were on this list.

    Reply

  • Some of the names are interesting and out there

    Reply

  • I am too traditional to like many of the names listed. And I really don’t like Scott for a girl. Reminds of the Johnny Cash song, “A Boy Named Sue”, and that didn’t turn out too well.

    Reply

  • People actually use some of there. Imagine having the name legend, who would take you seriously?

    Reply

  • I admit some of these are not very nice baby names but i think Nevaeh is lovely.

    Reply

  • There are some weird names in this list. I have heard of Nevaeh before and she was actually very sweet. One person I know was called Senga and she told me she was named after her Grandmother Agnes.

  • Some unusual/different names here, used to be slight spelling change a few years back, now these names seem almost all made up!

    Reply

  • I have heard a number of them but there are some interesting spellings included.

    Reply

  • Baby names are such a personal preference though, not my place to judge

    Reply

  • There’s a few on that list that I hadn’t considered bogan, but have known of for a while. The rest, those poor kids!!

    Reply

  • Almost every one of these names made me cringe!
