Hot Cross Bun, but make it vodka please and thank you. ALDI has revealed it’s popular Hot Cross Bun Vodka Liqueur is making a comeback.

From March 25 you’ll be able to get your hands on the new, limited edition vodka liqueur, which is just like drinking a hot cross bun – with a kick.

ALDI Hot Cross Bun Vodka

The festive Australian small-batch vodka liqueur is described as being infused with warm cinnamon and rich caramelised brown sugar.  ‘Smooth and velvety, it delivers a perfectly balanced blend of sweetness and spice, making it a delightful choice neat, over ice, or in cocktails’.

Speaking of which, ALDI has also revealed a delightful cocktail that makes its Hot Cross Bun Vodka the star of the show:

Hot Cross Bun Apple Pie Cocktail

Ingredients

  • 40ml Hot Cross Bun Vodka
  • 60ml Pick’d Cloudy Apple Juice
  • 10ml lemon juice
  • Splash of Regal Soda Water

Instructions

  1. Shake Hot Cross Bun Vodka, apple juice and lemon with ice
  2. Top with mineral water
  3. Garnish with an apple slice and cinnamon

The tipple is best enjoyed neat over ice or added to a cocktail, and will retail for $24.99.

ALDI has previously made headlines with its colour-changing gin and unicorn gin.

  • Oh i definitely remember seeing these come out last year and was spewing that i never got to try it at least once! Im glad it’s back this year again for Easter. I’ve read a few reviews on this who all say that it’s quite nice, giving Kahlua type vibes !

  • I managed to get my hands on one of these last year (even though I live in Tassie) and it was so worth it! The taste is perfect and you can pair it with kahlua for a lovely cocktail, drink straight or with milk. It’s my ideal because I love spice flavours!

  • Sounds delicious. I tried to find this last year but it either sold out or wasn’t available where I live. I love a themed based drink and this one sounds really divine. I especially love the sound of the Hot Cross Bun Apple Pie Cocktail, a perfect way to enjoy the Easter long weekend.

  • Sounds BUNderful and an affordable tipple to have over Easter.

  • That is an interesting combination ! I general I do love cinnamon spices. I quite like to sound of the recipe shared here of the Hot Cross Bun Apple Pie Cocktail. It makes the vodka directly less sweet as in the pure form it could become a bit too much. A pity that Aldi doesn’t sell alcohol here in QLD

  • I love how Aldi have all these quirky new things to try. I’ll be adding the Hot Cross Bun Vodka Liqueur to my Aldi shopping list for sure. This would be lovely enjoyed after a long day or shared with family and friends over the Easter break. And the price? Wow! Just $24.99.

  • Another year that I’m so jealous of the states that get to enjoy the fun seasonal alcohol that Aldi comes out with. They always seem to have something interesting on offer. Maybe other states will decide to finally catch up. I’d love to hear what people think of it, it sounds lovely

  • Well this is something very different and I can’t really imagine what it would taste like. I’m curious but no enough to buy a bottle. Here’s hoping someone I know does so I can have a taste lol. There seems to be an absolute flood of flavoured alcoholic drinks about nowadays.

  • This sounds delightful. I am not averse to an occasional nip of vodka and I love the smell and taste of cinnamon, so what’s not to like with this release from Aldi? I don’t normally shop at Aldi, but would be willing to drive there for this unusual but very nice sounding little tipple.

  • Run don’t walk my brain is telling me. This sounds so so good, I really want to try this. I love when they bring out specials like this around a special occasion. it sounds really delicious and my mouth is watering just reading the description. It would be a lovely gift if you were going to someone’s house over the easter weekend.

  • Oh my word! That sounds absolutely divine! I live in Tassie where sadly, there is no Aldi, but I have gotten in touch with family/friends to see if someone can buy me a bottle and bring it to Tassie when they next visit. I HAVE to get my hands on one of these!

  • This delicious sounding drink from Aldi would also make a terrific gift for Easter for the grown ups. It would also be interesting to see how this drink can be used in recipes; again recipes only for the adults in the family. I am a fan of limited release and novelty drinks.

  • i might have to go for a drive to Tweed Heads and buy a bottle of Vodka Hot Cross Bun Liqueur. It sounds yummy. I do enjoy something a bit different. I have Chocolate Rum, Espresso Martini Vodka, Marshmallow Vodka and either have a drink every now and again or use them in my baking.

  • Okay, I’m going to need QLD Aldi stores to step it up thanks!! Or make a deal with one of the current alcohol retailers to stock their products. It’s always so unfortunate to see what other states get, the products always sound so fun and different. This is a fun take on classic Easter flavours

  • this really does sound quite enticing, which is surprising as I don’t usually respond much to descriptions of taste, and don’t drink a lot. If I give this a go, half the bottle might still be in my cupboard in a decade! NOthing wrong with a long lasting treat, I guess.

  • That’s not a bad price. I like the idea of cinnamon infused vodka.

  • Im not a big drinker but as a huge fan of hot cross buns this does look rather tasty. I am definitely curious to see whether it’s any good. Would also make a nice Easter gift for adults who do like a drink. Something a little different but still “easter” themed.

  • Besides the fact I am not really in to drinking alcohol anymore, The Aldi stores in Queensland (where we live) do not sell alcohol due to liquor licensing limitations. I believe it is not sold in any SA Aldi stores either. Alcohol can only be sold at a hotel or a detached bottle shop and owners must have a commercial liquor licence here. I remember when we lived in Sydney you could find alcohol just in the Aldi suypermarket

  • I haven’t drank a drop of alcohol in ages ! Some years ago I was still enjoying a glass of wine mainly in the weekend or at a social gathering. However these days I don’t feel for drinking alcohol anymore. I remember years ago when I was camping in Kyrgyzstan it was rather cold. With a night temperature of -20 degrees the ground remained frozen during the day and I was unable to get warm. It was then that I was introduced to Vodka. It did work as alcohol can cause blood vessels to widen which gives a temporary feeling of warmth.

  • I am a fan of hot cross buns and I suspect will be a fan of this latest release from Aldi. This should be a spicy and delicious drink to serve at Easter when hosting an Easter together. I hope there is plenty of stock at the local Aldi to purchase.
