A MAN is recovering in hospital after being stabbed multiple times in a frenzied attack while holding a 9-month-old baby in his arms.

The incident occurred outside a house in Maroochydore at around 2pm on Friday.

A police statement reads, Police are investigating after a wounding incident in Maroochydore this afternoon.

At about 2pm a 42-year-old man sustained stab wounds to his back following an argument with another man whilst seated in a vehicle.

The 42-year-old man was holding a 9-month-old baby when the assault took place and then removed himself and the baby from the situation.

The baby did not sustain any injuries.

The offender has then driven away in a white Holden Commodore station wagon.

A 42-year-old man was transported to Nambour Hospital for the treatment of non-life threatening injuries and is assisting police with their investigations.

Police are now searching for the victim’s attacker who police said fled the scene in a white Holden Commodore station wagon.

The victim remains in hospital and is assisting police with their inquiries.
