If you’re lusting after a designer stone side table but can’t justify the thousand dollar plus price tag – we got you.

A supremely clever home stylist has shared her Bunnings travertine side table hack, whipping up a low-cost lookalike for under $60. Geneva Vanderzeil’s cheap as chips DIY has gone viral, and it’s easy to see why.

Using just three travertine natural stone pavers and construction glue from Bunnings the Brisbane DIY guru crafted a stunning side table. Even better – she shared a step by step guide on how to create one for your home.

“I saw a side table for $1500 but instead decided to make one for… $58,” Geneva explained. “Out of pavers from the landscaping department at Bunnings! Seriously, who would have thought? When I was growing up my parents always said I liked to look at things upside down, and yep, old habits die hard.

“This is one of my favourite projects to date and one that you so need to try. Travertine pavers and liquid nails. So easy! Note that this side table comes in at 56kg, so take care (and wear shoes) when moving it. You might also want to make it close to where you are going to use it! To add extra stability (if you have small kids etc) you should glue or screw some L brackets onto the underside at the back and screw those to the wall.”
