Apparently salt is not good for the chances of having a girl.

A few weeks prior to trying to conceive make changes to your diet to reduce the pH levels as acidic conditions that are too high in the body are said to kill the female sperm. Try to increase your calcium and magnesium levels as this is also said to help.

2) No big “O”

As male sperm are typically faster than female sperm and women’s orgasms move sperm closer to the cervix it has been suggested women say no to orgasm.

3) Less frequent

You have sex less frequently to lower your partner’s sperm count and to increase the chances of the female sperm reaching the egg first.

4) Lunar calendar

Check the Chinese lunar calendar – sure you have a 50/50 chance of getting it right, but it’s always worth a try!

5) Plan your timing

As female sperm are thought to be stronger and last longer than male sperm, it’s been suggested to “do the deed” 2 or more days prior to ovulation. To help you work out your dates use this handy ovulation tool.

6) A bit of fun

  • You put a wooden spoon under your bed and a pink ribbon under your pillow.
  • You suggested the love-making.
  • You make love in the afternoon.
  • You make love on even days of the month.
  • Your partner reaches orgasm before you.
  • You keep penetration shallow.

7) In vitro

Although controversial and very expensive in vitro fertilisation is said to be the way to conceive your choice of boy or girl.

Tips for having a boy:

1) Adjust your diet

As too much acid in your body is said to kill off the boy sperm it’s been suggested to try an alkaline diet a few weeks prior to conception. Increase your sodium and potassium intake is also suggested as well as starting the day with a green power smoothie.

2) Give the male Y sperm a head start

To give the male Y sperm a head start it’s suggested that sexual positions that provide deeper penetration such as doggy style will help.

3) Timing

As male sperm are thought to swim faster and reach the egg first it’s suggested to have sex on the day of ovulation.

4) Caffeine hit for dad

To make the Y Sperm more active have the Dad to be drink a beverage with caffeine in it prior to doing the deed.

5) Avoid sex

To keep the sperm count high and increase your chances of having a boy avoid sex for a week before ovulation and then on ovulation day only have sex once.

6) The big “O” first

Reach orgasm before your partner, as this releases an alkaline fluid, thought to be more male-sperm friendly than the vagina’s natural acidity.

7) Exercise?

No more cardio ladies as weight loss is said to sway toward girls so hit the weights and focus on strength.

8) A bit of fun

  • Your partner suggests the love making.
  • You make love at night.
  • You make love on odd days of the month.
  • Your partner keeps his genitals cool by wearing boxer shorts and loose-fitting trousers.

  • According tom the Chinese chart, I should have more female children then I do. I think it is just luck really. Though my MIL did say when having one of her many children, that a woman was acting funny. It turned out in her husband’s family only males had been born in the last hundred years and her having a daughter was so different to the rest.

  • I don’t believe you can choose the sex of a baby with diets etc it’s a boy or girl 50/50 chance that prob would of been the same even if u didn’t intervene and try this or that :)

  • There’s a lot of do’s and do not’s out there but for me it was just a miracle that I got pregnant. I didn’t care if I had a boy or girl. They are all precious whether you give birth to them or adopt them, they are always worth it.

  • You get what you get and don’t get upset! I don’t believe any of these but gender disappointment is a real thing for some

  • I’ve enjoyed the surprise of finding out whether my baby was a girl or a boy at their birth

  • I dont think any of these would actually work. Even if you tried and you got the opposite sex then you’d likely experience some disappointment so best people don’t try anything.

  • When i was younger i always wanted 1 sex. But then as i got older and found it harder to conceive and hearing others struggling to conceive or carry a pregnancy i was greatful for just having a baby. After the 1st we then had several losses and the sex of the baby no longer mattered. It was about being able to have a Beautiful and Health Baby.
