Your weekly dose of health and well-being learnings to lead a happy and healthy life.

This week discusses Children’s Immune Systems and why children often seem to get so sick when they first start daycare or pre-school. Sharing with you some information about how your child’s immunity grows stronger and why getting sick is actually a sign that your child’s immune system is working well.

  • Yes picking up bugs and germs are eventually going to happen with our children but if we can avoid them from being sick and sharing with others then I’m sure we’d all prefer this! It’s too stressful caring for a sick bubba, especially when they are too young to talk and tell you what’s wrong.

  • Good to know. although i realise my kids will get sick when they do i tend to stress about every symptom. Oh dear they have a fever, i better not leave them for a second. etc etc. I know this is slightly obsessive but i cant help it. I hope as they get older it will get easier. I hate it when my kids are sick.

    • I’m the same. The kids get sick and I’m a paranoid basket case. I hunt the doctors down till my gut feeling goes away. And when I find out what’s wrong I stay on the kids tail till their on the mend. Yep, crazy mama I am, but hey, they aren’t replacable

  • My girls are generally sick in the colder months. I’m all for building stronger immune systems, but I’m very much against carers sending very sick kids to school, the kids need to be home in bed and cared for not at school/shops spreading whatever about. I understand people work and have no one to care for their child, maybe the government can look into that. As for my 2, when they are ill, they are home and kept away from others. My youngest, she eats everything and I mean everything, sofa, flies, carpet, more flies, she hunts flies. If I see her I stop her obviously.

  • Great video. My girls love playing in the dirt and have friends but aren’t in day care so I’m not sure how strong their immune system is but at home with me they very rarely get sick
