We all know kids can be difficult on a flight, and sometimes it’s hard to keep them content – but would you allow your child to disrupt an entire plane just to keep them happy?

Imagine being on a flight, and it’s time to catch some shut-eye. The lights are dimmed and everyone lowers their conversations as they get ready to sleep. And then this little girl decides it’s the perfect time to put on her hat, and turn on its flashing lights.

In a viral video posted by Male Castellon, which has been viewed seven million times, passengers can be seen in the dimly lit plane, before the camera pans to a girl sitting on a male’s lap. She’s all smiles as her flashing hat illuminates the entire cabin.

The video has been flooded with comments from people furious at her parents for allowing her to disrupt the entire plane.

One person said, “Imagine trying to sleep and all of a sudden the plane turns into a rave.”

While another commented: “I would go insane.”

Others commented how inconsiderate it was, saying they’re careful not to disrupt sleeping passengers: “And I was mortified when I accidentally turned my overhead light on last week on a 6am flight.”

Others commented that it would trigger their anxiety or migraines, and could even trigger a fit or seizure.

While a flight attended commented:

“As a flight attendant, I’d say put that away. There are people trying to rest, read, watch a movie etc. Also, there are people with disabilities, and this can be incredibly annoying and irritating for them.

“Leave stuff like this for home or amusement parks. Not in a tiny tin can at 30,000ft in the air. Some folks have sensitive eyes please consider others around you.”

The person who posted the video on TikTok hasn’t given any further details on what happened during the flight.

  • I think this would drive me crazy!

  • I don’t understand why people are so inconsiderate of others. I’d hope that maybe that it was only on for a second while a parent took a happy snap but if not I don’t think I’d be happy. Airline staff need to be a bit more forthright on planes.

  • No way, this is not okay for a number of reasons. I would not be impressed. And clearly the parent doesn’t want the child to sleep, or to sleep themselves. So selfish and inconsiderate. I’d be taking the batteries out and saying it’s gone to sleep.

  • People are becoming inconsiderate and teaching children the same. Not a good way to entertain

  • All the loud, flashy and noisy toys that are given to us by grandparents and in-laws are banished to the spare room! No thank you!

  • This would definitely set off a migraine for me. Her parents should have known better and I’m sure if they were passengers and someone else’s child did this they’d complain. I can’t believe how inconsiderate they were of the other passengers.

  • Honestly, I have never flown a on a plane so I don’t know the experience. However, common sense. Time for sleep, all lights out. As the story says, there hasn’t been any more information or full story, so possibly this little girl got to show off her cool lights before she settled in for sleep. The video could be just a humorous thing as the video pans around and once girl is in frame, you could see she is staring as well as the parent. Video could be staged like many tik tok vids. Its cute and love it. But definitely this wouldn’t be allowed for too long.

  • Somehow I feel that I would prefer the hat with lights than listening to a screaming child on the flight.

  • I’d rather be bothered by a light than a mega unhappy disruptive kid, but then again actually i’d rather be asleep full stop (rarely happens!). I think the risk to others and the lack of consideration would make for an early intervention by the cabin crew.

  • I rather a kid with a flashing hat then a kid screaming the plane down. Whatever makes the kids happy.

  • I hope the hat was only on for a minute until they realised how bright it was. It is bad enough when a baby cries throughout the whole flight when people are trying to sleep. We recently went on an overseas trip and there were 4 babies very close to us and all but 1 settled for the night. Don’t get me wrong, I love kids but the incessant crying can get on your nerves.. Someone turning on a light might wake another sleeping baby. We need to be considerate of others when flying.

  • Surely it is not worse than filming a video of a random child and putting it on social media?

  • The flight attendants would have handled this I’m sure.

  • That would be so annoying to have to put up with on a flight when trying to rest/sleep

  • As much as its a very cute onesie its not appropriate for a Plane flight.

  • Oh my….that is super cute but not something for plane travel.

  • Oh my, no nope not acceptable. This is so inconsiderate to everyone on the flight. I wish we knew the outcome. Why even bring it on a flight? If the child couldn’t part with the onsie (by the look of it) explain you can wear it, but must not be put on!

  • One would hope it was only for a minute or two! I don’t think I’ve ever been able to sleep on a plane, but it’s not something I’d like flashing brightly in the dark. The dad actually seemed to look happy in the video. N9t something I’d allow my kids to do. Not even my special needs kids. There’s always a better way to keep your kids calm and quiet

  • This is very inconsiderate of the parents.

  • I would get so angry if I was on the plane… but don’t blame the kid, the parents are the irresponsible one.
