Hello!

Every year the arrival of the Christmas decorations around town comes as a shock. I’ve only just gotten round to packing the tinsel away before I have to dig it out again. The Christmas carols chase me round the grocery store and the twelve days of Christmas tick away before you can say honey mustard glazed ham.

Don’t get me wrong. Christmas is delicious. It’s infectious – all that festive cheer. How can you not love the baubles, the giant candy canes, all those cheery round men dressed in red and white fur. And of course, all the little people in your life licking their pencils to scribble lists for Santa.

Getting the gift-giving right is a present in itself – nothing beats the look of delight on a loved one’s face. Braving the Christmas hordes, however, is a different story. Inevitably I emerge, hours later, clutching some random packages in a state of mild hysteria.

If a battle to the death for the last roll of torn-up wrap gets your blood pumping, then don’t let me interrupt. But in the interests of staying this side of sanity, we’ve created a Zanui cheat sheet for gifting the whole family.

DADS and POPS

Whether he’s the steely arbiter of disputes or powerless against little-finger-wrapping, socks are not the answer this year.

Why not kit out his home bar with stylish accessories from Avanti and Vinturi. For lovers of lager, there’s the Spiegelau Beer Classics. Or for your favourite Mad Man, a set of cognac or whiskey glasses to accompany his evening meditations – ideal for dad-seniors as well.

Not a drinker? Update his study with a contemporary wall clock in sleek British or Scandinavian designs.

NEW ARRIVALS

Celebrate your little one’s first Christmas with über-cute accessories from 3 Sprouts, featuring adorable animal characters destined to visit your evening storytime. For curious little ones learning to trust their feet an activity walker makes a great present – EverEarth offers a range of eco-friendly toys from interactive work benches, shape-sorters and music play tables.

KIDS 2-5 YEARS

Inspire your littlies’ creativity and enhance their coordination with gorgeous blocks handcrafted by Uncle Goose or Melissa & Doug’s range of playsets. Turn up the drama with a KidKraft play kitchen or shopping counter and teach your little one vital social skills.

LUCKYBOYSUNDAY range quirky designer art toys that make ideal companions. Or set up their playroom with Sprout’s kids’ furniture, and get them crafting.

TEENS

A luxurious candle or diffuser set makes a gorgeous present for teenage girls. From sultry to citrus, sweet pea, frangipani, and more, these scents allow her to define her space. The Ecoya and Enjoy Lighting collections come elegantly presented, making it an ideal gift for teachers, nannies and neighbours as well.

Deck out your son’s den with skull candles in a range of grungy colours or some serious wall art – Americanflat ranges vintage Rolling Stones, Johnny Cash, Texan Cowboy and Motor City print art.

MUMS and NANS

Treat your mum to the ultimate in traditional craftsmanship with a Zero Japan tea set, made from fine porcelain in a range of glazes – just perfect for indulgent morning teas.

And last but not least, don’t forget to engineer it so you receive the perfect gift. For inspired entertainers, spoil yourself with fine bone china dinnerware, the epitome of elegance, or opt for a more modern aesthetic with designers sets like the Gordon Ramsay by Royal Doulton collection.

Use the opportunity to reinvent your interiors with the Linen House cushion collection, from on-trend animal print to French-inspired to suit your style.

So, there you have it. But that’s just a taste. Browse Zanui’s extensive range online from the comfort of your home, calmly tick off your list and avoid the Christmas madness.

  • I must be like the only person who basically only buys something for my husband and daughter :S a phone call to everyone else or some photos sent of our daughter!

    • You are not alone we are the same. Extended family gets photo’s/photobooks and we buy for our immediate family. We do a secret santa style gift exchange if we are all together over the Christmas period.

  • *Sight* Christmas seems to come earlier each year. It’s pretty easy for us now as no gift giving between adults has been agreed and our daughter is older. I used to keep my eye out as soon as the Boxing Day sales started and throughout the year for special gifts that caught my eye.

  • This would have been very handy to read before last Xmas. Never mind, I can keep the article until next year. While some people are harder to buy for than others, I always like to try and get something that I know the person will really like or use. It doesn’t take that much extra effort.

    • I’m like that too, make an effort to get that something special that would suit them.
