Dannii Minogue has done a complete 360 in her career. X Factor has wrapped for another year, and no doubt we’ll see her back on the show again for her fourth season in 2016. She has proven to be popular not only as a singer, but as a mentor to up-and-coming artists on several seasons of not only X Factor Australia, but X Factor UK and Australia’s Got Talent.

“Looking back over all of my mentoring, I’d have to say in my first year on The X Factor in the UK, I was standing on stage with the two finalists – and both of them were from my team – that was pretty special,” Ms Minogue smiles. “And mentoring Dami Im to the winning spot in 2013’s X Factor Australia when she was first not even chosen in the top 12 – I was pretty proud about that too.”
Of the many co-stars she’s worked with, she labels the king of modern music contests Simon Cowell as her favourite judge to work alongside.
“Simon taught me how to sit in the judging seat and feel confident about communicating my opinion,” she says.
“However I also loved working with Nat Bassingthwaighte last year. We got to be fierce at times, and then we got to be girly. We would have dance offs backstage and our kids go to the same kindy so we’d see each other all the time even outside of work.”
Last year, Ms Minogue added fashion designer next to her list of musical achievements, launching Petites for Target.
“I love being creative. It’s the driving force behind my work choices and a big part of what defines my personality,” the star enthuses.
“Fashion is a passion of mine and a huge part of my job. I’m constantly working with stylists to put together my looks. I started Petites for Target as I knew I could deliver something that was hard to find. More than 47 per cent of Australian women are 5’4” or under, so I knew they were going through all the same shopping dilemmas as myself.”
However, with achievements a plenty, Dannii is quick to say her proudest moment happened just recently.
“Recently Ethan said to me, ‘Mummy, I love it when you are on X Factor’, with a huge smile on his face. I love that he is starting to understand what I do for work and that he is proud and happy seeing me do it,” Dannii beams.
