Hello!

Mums (and dads!) are turning to bright and bold matching delivery room decor adorned with ruffles and loud prints to proudly show off their new babies.

While many mums choose a special first outfit for their newborn in anticipation of those first family photos from the delivery suite, there are hundreds who are turning to custom designed matching outfits for mum, bub and even dad. And the hospital room bed isn’t left out either.

US-based Etsy store Ruffles&Buttons creates incredibly detailed, handmade custom hospital sets which include a baby gown, headband, blanket, maternity gown, hospital bed blanket and pillow case. And they retail for hundreds of dollars.

The store has made almost 7,000 sales, and there’s currently a six-week turnaround for custom items, proving just how popular the matchy mum and bub outfits are.

The range includes personalised outfits and bedding with names, sporting themes and of course plenty of ruffles!

Gone is the sterile white bedding and hospital blanket, replaced by loud and proud outfits and bedding that’s only increasing in popularity.

  • Oh wow, this definitely is a statement. I wouldn’t be shocked to read that this company is Texas based, as this hair is very fluffed up and high. It’s cute families expressing themselves and doing something to celebrate the moment, but there are a few too many ruffles for my taste.

  • A bit much for me.

  • I would rather celebrate this life event intimately than showing off on social media. ✌????

  • Some are a bit over the top but they still look cute. I’d rather use the money to pay for things the baby needs though.

  • I love the idea, if I would have known about this earlier. What a beautiful way to celebrate the arrival of precious cargo!!

  • OMG… I rather take that moment as an intimate family pic after being pushing so hard… Not my style.

  • A little bit much but I can see the appeal. Hey, if I could get a personal stylist and make-up artist to come in too I’d love some beautiful matching family photos instead of natural post birth me who looks like I just crawled out from under the bridge and haven’t slept for a week!

  • Geez .. now that is taking it to a whole new level. Honestly that is overboard. Its meant to be a time of bringing life into this world but it now seems to he all about trends to be posted on a social. Look, Good on those parents who have money to splash around for things like these, their choice. However, it really takes away the real focus… The baby. All I am taking in is the designs, sadly not the bundle of joy in the photo. This is definitely not my kind of thing.

  • This is too over the top for me but each to their own

  • I can see how this is appealing if you have money to spend, guaranteed single room, and a scheduled birth date to set it up.

  • They don’t appeal to my taste, but I can see how they would bring joy to others.

  • Personally I just want out of the hospital asap! I’m not going to waste my time with this silliness.

  • Guess I wasn’t on trend. I just wanted baby out not worrying about my bedding

  • Honestly that would not even cross my mind. What a bizarre trend.

  • If you’re feeling well enough to bother with something like this, why not? It’s silly but harmless.

  • I like this idea and think it’s cute but I wouldn’t be doing it just for social media.. but to be cute and funny, I’ve never seen anyone do anything like this it’s a fun idea.

  • Oh my its so they can put it all on Social media I guess I rather keep these things private thanks

  • Yeah this is not for me lol… Honestly I think sometimes people ate so concerned with getting the “likes” they actually miss out on the beauty of being in the moment.

    • Being in the moment is always so important.

    Reply

  • That’s nice I liked the idea of course if you have enough time for this!

  • What a ridiculous waste of money! They also look so gaudy. Definitely not my thing!
