Doctors Stunned When Baby Grows 'Fang' Overnight

The parents of an 11-week-old baby boy were left shocked when he grew a fang tooth “overnight”.

Tara and Brian O’Byrne, from Ireland, rushed baby Oscar to hospital after discovering the sharp tooth in his mouth one morning.

Speaking to the Irish Daily Mirror , mum Tara said: “I went in to him around 7am. I usually give him a soother and he goes back asleep for an hour, but he kept crying.

“So I took him out and changed him but when I went to feed him, I found the tooth in his mouth. It had grown overnight.”

Tara took him straight to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda but doctors were also baffled at the sight of the fang.

“They were debating whether it was a tooth or not. They kept calling other doctors in – they didn’t know what to do.”

Tara was put in touch with a dentist in Drogheda who would see Oscar.

She said: “We got an appointment and brought him in. I had to hold him and hold his arms down while she took the tooth out.”

“There were dentists coming in to take pictures of the tooth and everything. We took it home to show Oscar when he gets older.

“We were terrified at first but now we’re seeing the funny side. Me and my husband were laughing about it, it’s mad – especially at this time of the year!”

my eldest didnt get her first tooth until she was close to a year old but then she suddenly got one tooth after another and had a mouth full of teeth.

So was it a tooth? Poor little man. It sounds like he didn’t have anything for pain either. Hope it was just a one off and his other teeth are normal.
