  • I was lucky not to have bedtime problems. I would just send the boys to bed an hour earlier so by the time it was really bedtime they were ready. Little trick my grandmother taught me

  • My little one doesn’t have a probably with going to bed, but sometimes waking during the night. For the most part, it’s all good though.

  • Why can’t children understand how wonderful sleep is. As adults, we want it, need it, long for it. My son was not a good sleeper, then we got the routine sorted. But he would fight us all the time. Now at 15, he loves to sleep in. Finally, he understands the value of sleep. But, that bed time hour is changing.

  • Luckily no bedtime battles at ours. Except for my 6 year old who likes to play up a little, but with a consequent attitude and parents on one line this is well manageable.

  • Children through out the ages have always made more and more excuses to stay up later – think the old-fashioned nanny used to be the best for getting them to sleep – think Mary Poppins here – and these days we are far more lax at implementing discipline which is what is needed at bedtime.

  • Yep, every single night with my 5yo and sadly my 20mo is shaping up to be every bit as sleep resistant as his brother.

  • This is hilarious. And YES I can relate. I have four munchkins that seem to tag team which one will think of excuses for that night. Need a drink, need the toilet, forgot to brush teeth, forgot to give me a school note for the morning, need another drink, hungry, hot, itchy, sore leg, need to go to the toilet again, need my teddy bear, can’t find my pillow, want to read another book, can’t sleep because of that noise, need to go to the toilet again.

  • Ahhh, the joys of bedtime! My older kids are a lot easier now, but my youngest is a nightmare to get to sleep. I’m usually so exhausted that I fall asleep too!
