A family returning from a holiday has left their five-year-old daughter at the airport on their return.

The young girl was left stranded at Stuttgart Airport, one of Germany’s busiest airports on Monday.

According to Stuttgart police, several people witnessed the five-year-old girl walking aimlessly around all by herself in the airport’s arrival hall, shares Yahoo news.

Despite multiple announcements via the airport’s intercom system, no parents arrived at the information desk to pick up their lost daughter.

Officers brought the child to the police station, when they received a phone call from her worried mother.

She explained that the family had come back from their holiday abroad and resumed their journey home in two different cars.

According to the police, both parents assumed that the other had taken the daughter in the other car.

“The five-year-old was eventually safely picked up by her father,” a police spokesperson said.

  • Sounds like “Home Alone”…. When you have two car loads i gather its a large family.

  • Poor little mite, she must have been so scared. Parents would have been beside themselves with horror I should imagine.

  • I guess having two cars to go home in could have caused the confusion, but it is still out of my sense of reasoning how anyone can leave a child unattended.

  • You would never forgive yourself if something happen to the child!

  • Parents forgetting kids…..I’ll never get how this happens. Never!

  • Oh my goodness. I just don’t understand how this could happen…

  • Whoops!
Home alone became real for a 5 yr old poor little love…

  • If we are using 2 cars for any reason we always decide which car the children will go with, and make sure they go in that car. Another reason to make sure you hold your child’s hand when out and about.

  • That’s horrible! It still astounds me that things like this can happen! How do you get all the way out of the airport not realising your child isn’t with you? I get the 2 different cars thing, but still…

  • Thank goodness the police were there to take care of the child. She could have been taken by anyone. Hope the parents have learned a very valuable lesson and never let this happen again.

  • Once it was explained how it happened it’s not as stupid as it sounds! Probably a lot easier to happen than most people realise.

  • I thought about Home Alone too but seriously the child/ren should be the First thing you think about.

  • Must have been a good holiday to come back that relaxed.

  • I would have thought it was routine to check who had which kid…

  • Oh my goodness, poor little thing. How scary for the parents. But, how could you forget your baby at the airport, wouldn’t you check then double check!

    Reply

  • Good grief thats scary but how do you not confirm with your spouse who has which kids? I’d be double checking that before we even walked out of each other’s sight.

  • So scary for everyone involved!

  • They must have been very tired! Would have been a heart stopping experience for everyone!
