That “on your way home, can you grab…” text could be worth $20 in free groceries, and chances are you’ve got one sitting in your messages right now.

While some supermarkets are luring customers by offering collectibles, IGA is giving back straight into the shopping budget. From today, customers can claim $20 in free groceries via IGA Cash Back, just by submitting a genuine grocery-related text. 

The Texts Aussies Know All Too Well

We all know the feeling – you’re about to make a cuppa, or cook dinner and realise you’ve run out of milk or a key ingredient. So we fire off the usual ‘on your way home …’ text. 

In fact, new research by IGA found nine in 10 Aussie have either sent or received one of these texts, and more than half get on at least once a week. Not sure what that says for the rest of us who send them daily!

Can You Just Grab …

Of course milk tops the list of the most requested homeward bound supermarket dash item, followed by bread and snacks. And needing one last thing to make dinner is also right up there.

And then there are those Australians who have some of the more unique requests, like asking loved ones to pick up everything from underwear to chicken feet and even 40 loaves of bread. 

 “We’ve all been there. You’re almost home when your phone lights up with the classic ‘On your way home…’ text asking for milk, bread or that one last ingredient for dinner,” IGA store owner George Achram said

“As a network of independent family-owned businesses, IGA is often that convenient stop on the way home, so we wanted to recognise the people making those extra trips by giving something back.”

How To Claim Your Free $20 In Groceries

Starting from today, all you need to do is follow these steps:

  • Go to igarewards.com.au/onyourway
  • Fill out your details, download the IGA Rewards app, and submit a genuine “On your way home” text image
  • New IGA Rewards app members will receive $20 IGA Cash Back loaded into their account once they have downloaded the app. Existing IGA Rewards app members will have the $20 IGA Cash Back loaded into their account.
  • Eligibility: Open to Australian (excluding Tasmania) residents aged 18+.

The offer runs until 6th September or until all $50,000 IGA Cash Back has been claimed, so make sure you hurry!

  • I love this idea to encourage more customers coming into the store. $20 off is a great amount and something that has really caught my attention. IGA does have some great deals and this is just another way of them competing with the larger supermarkets like Woolworths and Coles. I love it.

  • This is a much better way to entice a shopper like me instead of small pieces of plastic. I’m really not a fan of these collectable pieces, they mostly end up as junk and the cycle starts over again next time around. I really value these types of promotions, I’ll have to hit up IGA

  • What a pity that we don’t have an IGA market nearby where we live ! I do like straight cash back rather than collectables being offered. In a way Coles does this too as I have quite often $10 off, but by Woolworths the build up for cash back goes slower.
