Do you ever find yourself repeating one of your own mum’s ‘pearls of wisdom’ to you kids? It’s time to celebrate the wonderful words of wisdom our mums have passed on to us, just in time for Mother’s Day!

BIG W has revealed Australia’s favourite pieces of motherly advice, which pass down from generation to generation. And they’ve partnered with one of the nation’s most beloved illustrators to capture the words in Mother’s Day cards, that you can download for free!

BIG W’s Words of Wisdom Report revealed the top ‘mum’ sayings that have left a lasting and positive impact on our lives:

  1. Treat others how you wish to be treated
  2. It’s a beautiful day, go play outside
  3. Don’t judge a book by its cover
  4. You can do anything if you try
  5. Take a jumper, you might get cold

In celebration of the beautiful, kind and helpful words of wisdom our mums have passed down to us, BIG W has partnered with illustrator and mum Paula Kuka to designs cards based on these words.

Paula says the cards are a nostalgic nod to our own childhood, as well as a glimpse into the future.

“As a mum myself, I know how much we take on everyday to ensure our family is well looked after, which is why partnering with BIG W to create these cards that thank mums for their constant support, wisdom and generosity felt particularly special,” Paula explained.

The cards are available now until Mother’s Day (14 May) to download and gift to your own mum! Or get the kids to choose their favourite to give to you.
