Hello!

It’s mid November, so it’s time Santa’s helpers start to prepare for the jolly questions our little ones will be asking us about Santa. Here’s a handy little list to help you answer all your little elves questions!

1. How does Santa deliver all the presents to everyone in ONE night?

Well luckily for Santa he is magic, because it is a big job. He prepares all year for this.

Optional extra: search ‘Santa Tracker’ on Google

2. How do you know which is the real Santa when you see so many in the shopping malls?

Santa has a team of helpers who help him when he gets really busy, of course. Sometimes it will be the real Santa, and sometimes it will be one of his helpers.

3. How do the reindeer fly?

They are magical reindeer of course! Santa trains them all year to be in their best and fastest form for Christmas Eve.

4. We don’t have a chimney so how will Santa get into our house?

Don’t worry, Santa has worked out how to get into most houses, it’s his job to deliver all the presents. He can use his magic!

Optional extra: perhaps we could leave a key out of him?

For every other question you can usually try one of these approaches:

  • Reverse the question, and get them to give you their answer first.
  • Ask them what they think e.g. “What do YOU think darling?”
  • Use this classic line, “Because it’s magic!”

If you are asked to provide “Proof” – these are my top three recommendations:

  • Check out lovefromsanta.com.au for your personalised letter from Santa himself!
  • Instagram: santaclaus._ for photos you can share with your children!

We would LOVE to hear all the funny questions your little ones have asked you about Santa! Share them in the comments below!

  • Or you could just tell them the truth… We are not huge promoters of Santa in our house.

  • Great tips here, thanks for sharing.

  • We used to tell the boys that Santa would only come if they were asleep. If they didn’t go to sleep Santa would know and he wouldn’t drop off any presents for them. Now our boys and our grandchildren are too old to believe in Santa but they do believe in the meaning of Christmas.

  • All this magic has gone for us now that even the grandchildren are too old for this fun.

  • We told the truth about Santa to our daughter at the end of Year 6. She still believed. But we thought it was our duty to tell her the truth before starting high school. We wouldn’t have liked other kids to deride her.

    • Wow, your daughter still believed by the end of year 6 ? that’s precious !

  • Santa is still well and truly alive in our house and I love it. Great suggestions to the questions

  • This would have been so handy a few years ago. We managed to keep the magic alive for a long time, and I really miss how innocent and magical it was for my son.

  • I remember a long time ago, my nephew telling me that he had been “naughty” and he had seen Santa leaving the gifts under the Christmas tree. I had to go on with him. I still don’t know if he dreamed it or he was lying. :-)

  • My nephew asked me why the reindeers left the carrot but Santa drank all the whiskey! I didn’t readily have an answer for him! Lol!

  • Lol, I don’t think we need a list as this to answer our kids questions !
