In poor taste Gwen Stefani’s April Fool’s Day joke didn’t go down well at all with her fans.

The Singer shared a photo of a sonogram on her Instagram on Friday for April Fool’s, poking fun at the recent rumours she and boyfriend Blake Shelton are expecting their first child , The Mirror reports.

“It’s a girl,” she wrote alongside heart emojis.

The image soon sparked anger with some of her followers, with many saying it was in poor taste.

“This is not funny. For people who cannot conceive or have trouble conceiving or who have miscarried you should never joke about pretending to be pregnant and blasting it all over the world. I figured you would have more respect seeing you are a mother,” one shared under the image.

Another fumed: “You think this is so funny. Have a care to women out there that are struggling with infertility. This is NOT an April Fool’s joke. This is some woman’s dream. I expected better from you.”

And: “Gwen, I love you. I’ve been a fan of yours since the 90s when I was a teen. But you are a grown adult woman. This sort of childish prank on April fool’s day is so beneath you. This is the sort of stunt an 18 year old pulls for attention, not a beautiful woman. You are more clever, creative, and wittier than this. ”

They continued: “So many women struggle with infertility, including myself. It is not funny. I haven’t been able to conceive for 7 years. I’ve been told by 4 different specialists, it will never happen. No IVF, No IUI, no injection works.

“You are the mother of gorgeous beautiful boys. You know how precious being a mother is. Please consider deleting this post. It’s not funny. It’s just insulting to your adult female fans.”

“This is really f**ked up,” shared another. “I’ve lost tons of respect for you Gwen. There are tons of people that can’t get pregnant. Like myself I had to go through fertility treatment to have my twin boys. Never use a fake pregnancy as an April Fool’s joke.”

“I struggle with infertility and I am definitely offended. I’ll speak for ANYONE who struggles with it.” wrote another.

Gwen is lucky to have three sons with ex Gavin Rossdale.

Do you think her prank was insensitive?

  • How many April fouls day jokes are really funny ?
With every joke you could hurt someone. I’s impossible to consider everyone.

  • I get it is joke, but also someone who has had issues getting pregnancy etc may not see it that way. I guess 10 years ago we would be laughing.

  • The prank was insensitive but I don’t think she meant it like that, people were already making rumours up that she was pregnant.

  • I think, as usual, the petty minority are having a huge whinge about nothing much, blowing it all out of proportion. I think Gwen was just having a laugh and kinda forgot how much attention she draws. Get a life whingers

  • probably not the best thing to joke about. I didn’t realize she had 3 kids though i thought she only had 1 lol

  • Am sure she didn’t consider the consequences, but you have such a high profile you kinda have to consider these things!

  • I always thought she was a self centered ditzy sheila, very poor taste hope you lose your fans.

  • Oh goodness….seriously I think that people just love to find negative aspects of things and blow them up into huge things.
Im sure Gwen had no plans to hurt anyone. How about getting upset at the magazines that are constantly posting that Celebs are pregnant when they are not.. Perhaps write on their facebook pages and such and tell them how offended you are as someone who cant conceive. I can honestly say ive never seen anyone do that but as soon as a Celeb does something like this as an april fools joke its hurt and upset a bunch of people…..good lord.

  • Wow, I bet she never meant to upset anyone.

  • I understand why people took it to heart but I don’t think she was out of line.

  • While I’m sure she didn’t intend to upset anyone, I definitely find this prank to be offensive. It is thoughtless and insulting to women and men struggling with infertility. The feeling of struggling to conceive, and losing pregnancy after pregnancy, is one that cannot be compared to anything. Seeing a woman who is so admired, treating it like such a joke, is pretty devastating. I realise she wasn’t saying anything about loss or about other people, but it still inadvertently hits a bit too far below the belt for my liking.

  • Why do people assume she’s better than that? Maybe she’s not.

  • The media speculation must be tiresome.

    • Quite frankly I am disgusted the media have reported this.

  • It was thoughtless. Most pranks are.

  • I don’t think it’s funny at all. It’s messed up.
