Your mind is a powerful thing. Ideally you want it to always be positive, but there are times where your mind just doesn’t want to work with you and the self sabotage starts to kick in.

What do I mean by self sabotage….

Things like ‘It can wait until tomorrow’, ‘I’ll start on Monday’, ‘Just one more’.  How often do these pop into your head? Or what about these popular ones:

“I’m so stressed out. I never have time to….”

We live in a stressful world and there is always going to be things that stress us out at one time or another. You might go through stressful days/weeks.

One of the worst things you can do when you are stressed is go for the takeaways, the chocolate and the wine.  Identifying ways to de-stress is always helpful. Things like yoga, or meditation, taking some time out for yourself.

But the best thing you can do is to eat healthy, clean food and exercise when you can. Even if its getting out of the office during lunch for a 20 min walk around the block, or getting up 20 mins earlier and doing some stretching.  It will help keep your energy up and hopefully reduce your stress.

“I’ve had such a crap day, I deserve….”

The reward for a sweet treat, or a glass of wine is NOT a treat when you go overboard and regret what you have done afterwards, when you feel so crap, heavy, bloated, tired and yuk and wish you hadn’t of had that ‘reward’.

In that situation, there are a lot of healthier treat options you can have, check back over the recipe blogs for some ideas.

Another option if you are having a crap day is to go and smash out an awesome workout – boxing is a great stress release, or a powerful and challenging strength session, metafit or cardio session. Go for that sort of option instead.

“I’ll start on Monday, or tomorrow, or next week”

Guess what? Today is tomorrow. Start now, don’t wait.

Start small if you need too – make small changes. Start with making healthier choices, get out and do a bit of exercise, join one of our many classes, or start with a walk around the block.

Just get started. Each day, you will be building a happier and healthier you. Stop those excuses NOW and make some changes.

Stop self sabotage. Be aware of that little voice in your head and squash it. You are stronger and more powerful that the voice.

Change your mindset, change your life.

  • Interesting points. I think it’s so true that sometimes you just need to get started, even if it is a small step. Sometimes I get so overwhelmed by the enormity of the task before me that it feels impossible to begin, so taht just makes it all the worse!

  • This sounds very similar. Sadly no matter what I try, I can’t get the negative roundabout from my head.
