Hello!

Former AFL player Barry Hall and wife Lauren Brant have welcomed their fourth bundle of joy at home.

The pair took to Instagram to share the happy news in a series of gorgeous photos and videos with their newest addition, and fourth boy, Clay.

“Our son was born 20.7.24 at 8.33pm into our loving arms at home,” the caption explains.

“It was magic. We are all in the most beautiful bubble of love and are being held and supported by our incredible community. We look forward to sharing our home-birthing story with you.”

The couple announced that they were expecting their fourth child in January this year, saying at the time:

“Well, our year is about to get a whole lot more colourful. BABY HALL #4 arriving July,” the couple captioned the photo. Barry, 46, and Lauren, 34, are already parents to Miller, 6, Houston, 4, and Samson, 2.

Lauren Brant And Barry Hall’s ‘Crazy’ Baby Number Three Birth Story

Lauren ended up giving birth to their third baby in a hospital reception area, with SAS Australia star Barry making it just in the nick of time.

The former Hi-5 star and her AFL legend husband welcomed their third baby in October 2021, following a heartbreaking family loss earlier that same year. Barry revealing baby Samson arrived not long after he returned from his stint on SAS Australia.

The former St Kilda, Sydney Swans and Western Bulldogs player arrived home just two days before the drama-filled birth of his third son, saying the timing was ‘meant to be’. Barry was invited to take part in SAS Australia while Lauren was pregnant in late 2021, which he says was a ‘once in a lifetime opportunity’.

He explained to 7Entertainment that Lauren gave him the tick of approval.

After Barry was evicted from the show on day seven, he travelled to the Queensland border to begin seven days of quarantine.

“Time was ticking, (Lauren) was gonna go any day,” Barry said. “And we got an exemption, and thankfully I got home a little bit earlier.”

And just 48 hours after he arrived home, Lauren went into labour. But due to the Covid rules at the time, Barry wasn’t allowed to enter the hospital, given he’d just returned from a Covid hotspot. The couple had planned to have Lauren’s parents look after their other two boys, while Barry dropped Lauren at the hospital. But their third little bundle of joy had other plans.

“(Lauren) said, ‘We just need to go, put the boys in the car, we’ve got to go’,” explained Barry. They made it to the hospital front door, with Barry helping Lauren out of their car.

“I took her to the front door and said ‘ok, this is handover, it’s not really fair but I can’t go in,’ but there are rules so we did that.”

But then, something amazing happened. Their baby was born right there in the hospital reception area. And Barry got to witness it all.

“I just went in and grabbed the baby and gave him a cuddle for five minutes in reception and then I left. Yeah, it was a crazy story.

“I’m not a big believer in the universe and all that sort of stuff, but that was certainly one that was just meant to be,” he said.

Third baby boy for Barry and Lauren

The couple’s third baby boy was born in October 2021 with Lauren revealing their gorgeous son on Instagram. “Our beautiful baby boy arrived Earth Side 26/10/2021, at 6.18am as a perfect 3.535kg and 51cm bundle. We have been in a complete love bubble of newborn smells, noises, kisses and cuddles.

“Miller and Houston are besotted with their baby brother and our hearts are just SO full. Thank you for your well-wishes, love and support while we took some time off the grid … and now be prepared for lots of baby squish on your feed.”

A baby name with a special connection

The couple married on February 17 2021, just weeks before Lauren’s sister-in-law Sandra passed away from cancer. Lauren revealing the emotional details behind their new bundle’s name: Samson Andy Hall.

“This baby boy gave us the strength to appreciate, respect and surrender to both the gift and impermanence of life. We were blessed with him a few days before our beautiful Sandra passed. He was the light through our grief. In choosing a ‘name’ we wanted to honour our son’s special connection to Sandy.

“We experienced a deeply spiritual week of strong messages from her – through symbols of sunshine and sunflowers that were being told to us via Miller and Houston. Out of nowhere, and clear as daylight the name Samson came to us. The meaning and origin of Samson is ‘sun’ and Biblically, he was endowed with strength.

“Samson’s middle name is Andy, which is in honour of his daddy whose middle name is Andrew. A special little touch, when written with his first initial reads: S. Andy.

“Samson Andy Hall, our darling third son, is just as beautiful, strong and special as his name is. We are so in love.”
