A COLES West Gosford customer was shocked to find a needle in their mango.

The customer reported the discovery to Police yesterday, shares Daily Telegraph.

“The customer purchased the mango at Coles West Gosford on Monday,” Chief Inspector Nigel Webber said.

“They had it for two days and later discovered, while cutting it up, a small needle.

“Police have seized the needle for forensic examination. No persons were injured.”

He said investigations into the matter were continuing.

Strawberries, bananas and apples have also been targeted in numerous cases of needle sabotage.

The recommendation is to cut up all fruit before serving.

  • Such a pity that so much publicity was given in the first instance so that these hoaxes are now happening.

  • The needle in th fruit is obnoxious, thoughtless and ha to sop. The idiots that do it if caught shoud go to jail! Affecting both the growers and buyers of fruit.. Think there are a lot of copycats involved in this horrid contamination which could and will cause harm to a person, probably a child as they are the most trusting. I am still buying fruit but do check it by cutting it up to be safe. Whoever is doing it is sick and should be stopped quick…disgusted and loss of trust

  • this is such an absolute horrible thing to do to our farmers and more importantly us!

It’s disgusting and cowardly and in true Aussie fashion we will not let this hurt us.

We all need to continue to my our fruit and support our farmers, we just need to make sure we cut and check carefully

I do hope that the police catch all these nasty people and charge them to the full extent of the law for this

    • I agree – let’s keep buying fruit and supporting farmers and not letting those doing these wicked deeds triumph!
