A new mother gave birth to a baby weighing just over 5kg!

Carmine Trinice, 25, welcomed her seventh child, Dwayne Michael Canada, on 27 July.

He tipped the scales at a whopping 5.1kg at the time of his birth, about 2kg above the average for newborns.

At 36 weeks into her pregnancy, Trinice suspected something was up when she went in for an ultrasound.

She felt that Dwayne was ‘way too big’. By that point he already weighed 3.6kg, Unilad reported.

The pain was unbearable, with the mother struggling to even do simple task like standing.

‘I couldn’t stand on my feet for more than 20 minutes, or walk for too long without having pain,’ she told the website. ‘I gained about 50lbs (23kg) during pregnancy but a lot of it was belly.’

The mother had planned to go into surgery at 1.15pm and was given an epidural at 12.45pm, but lack of hospital rooms forced her time to be pushed back to 2.20pm.

As a result, Trinice felt a lot more of the pregnancy.

‘It burned like a fire was lit in my stomach and I felt him being pulled out,’ she asserted.

A friend of Trinice posted a photo of Dwayne which quickly became viral, gaining more than 52k shares.

‘I really didn’t expect him to go viral all of my friends were just shocked at how big he was,’ the mother said.

‘I’ve had mothers from Texas to England messaging me congratulations or having questions about the birth or what I ate.

‘It’s been humbling knowing the first week of my son’s life he’s made his mark on the world.’

What a little beauty!

  • That is a big baby. I was wondering whether it would be a natural birth or not. It was her 7th baby, so I wasn’t sure, but thought it might need to be via c section

  • One very big baby. No wonder she had to have a c-section. I don’t understand why they didn’t give her a small dose of other pain relief or another epidural (a small dose)..

  • My boy was 5.1kg, born by c-section, I had an ultrasound at 8months duration and they did a guesstimate weight at around 3kg and said I was to have a c-section then, but when he was born doctors held him up like he was the biggest catch on a fishing trip. After weighing our son at 5.1kg, the doctors were amazed. All I can say is,during that pregnancy was, I couldn’t stop eating, because I’d I had stopped, I would have chundered. Nothing would appease my morning sickness except food and heaps of it. 15yrs later my son is 6ft and weedy as anything.
