Treat mum this Mother’s Day in the fieriest of ways by presenting her with a BBQ mega feast with all her favourites.

Dad and the kids can get their grilling prowess on by creating a menu fit for a queen, taking the entertaining and meal preparation outside, where mum can sit, relax, sip a sparkling wine and soak up the barbecue aromas.

Samba, the experts in fire and barbecue, have all the tips and tricks to make Mother’s Day less about slippers and perfume and more about sizzle and steaks!

Creating the ultimate backyard barbecue picnic

Mother’s Day is all about getting mum spoiled so it’s time to create the ultimate indulgence outdoor area as she awaits her barbecue feast!

Think the comfiest of hammocks, armed with her favourite drink all the while being serenaded by her favourite tunes.

If you’re setting up on a grassed area, lay an oversized picnic rug, a low picnic table, some chairs or pillows for seating, flowers and tasty nibbles.

Your mum now is all set to enjoy the rest of the afternoon!

And now for the menu

While the sausage is always a go-to favourite for a weekend meal, Samba recommends a Mother’s Day barbecue menu warrants a more bespoke experience.

Think chilli garlic skewers beautifully seared on the hot coals or an eye fillet steak, grilled to mum’s perfection and accompanied by charcoaled broccolini and beans, topped with a salsa verdi.

For chicken lovers, perhaps a grilled stuffed chicken breast, filled with glorious mozzarella cheese, baby spinach and sundried tomatoes accompanied by grilled corn on the cob and rosemary infused sweet potato fries.

Delighting mum with dessert

It wouldn’t be Mother’s Day without presenting mum with an unforgettable and mouth-watering dessert – but it certainly doesn’t have to be complex. To keep up with the barbecue theme, consider making BBQ rum and caramel bananas in foil – with vanilla ice cream of course!

Kebabs can take on a whole new meaning with marshmallow and strawberry skewers, which are then dipped into melted chocolate.  Simply delicious.

Wishing all the mums out there a wonderful Mother’s Day from Samba!

  • We always have bbq’s as they are a family favourite. You can pretty much put anything on the barbie and it will cook up nicely and taste absolutely delicious. It is such a great way to bring the family and friends together over a meal and socialise. With summer approaching, i will be using mine so much.

  • We’re having a BBQ for Mothers Day. Looking at the watermelon in the pic reminds of deep fried watermelon I saw on tv the other day. Only in America

  • Don’t think this is for me / my family, because # 4 of the 6 of us are vegetarian # 2 of my kids have additional needs and need around the clock supervision; I would have to run after them to keep them safe

    • And I’m actually very happy to get a bottle of perfume for Mother’s Day :)

  • This sounds wonderful! I don’t enjoy going on on Mother’s Day as the restaurants are busy and hectic. Give me a BBQ or picnic anyday.
