Mum left mortified when staff at her daughter’s pre-school mistook her four-year-old daughter’s drawing of a ‘slide’ for an incredibly life-like penis.

Little Amelia Barnhouse had been on a school trip where she played on a slide so big she remembered it for the whole month.

So when she was asked to draw her memories of the trip, the young girl drew a long pink, ridged slide complete with head and two large circular steps at the bottom – leaving staff in fits of giggles, shares The Sun.

Mum Vicci, 34, was left praying the ‘ground would swallow her up’ when staff invited her in for a chat at home-time on Friday.

Meanwhile Amelia’s dad Patrick joked he wouldn’t be returning to the nursery again in embarrassment.

Vicci, from Cardiff, South Wales, said: “I wanted the ground to swallow me up. It tickled us all.

“I 100% thought it was x-rated as soon as I saw it – it looking nothing like a slide.

“I was queuing to pick Amelia up as usual and one of her teachers was stood by the door with a workbook to her chest – hiding what was on the page.

“She said ‘can I have a quick chat? We were just wondering what park you take Amelia to?’

“Then she showed me the book and we had teaching assistants and other staff there and we were all roaring with laughter.

“I didn’t want her to think we were all laughing at her so I said ‘Amelia, this is a really good drawing’.

The little girl has proudly enjoyed all the praise from her teachers and parents – even accepting a gold star from her future headteacher.

Vicci said: “The teacher said it’d gone right the way around the school and everyone had had a look at it.”

Tell the truth, What did you think it was?

  • Ahh the innocence of youth. There are many things in the world that look similar to male parts.

  • Haha kids are the best little artists aren’t they?! I dread what my son is going to be drawing when he gets more pencil control XD

  • This is actually quite funny. My own Amelia (3) draws pictures of people which contain most body parts – I’ve tried to explain that she should possibly hide some body parts under clothes but she’s 3 so meh…

  • It could have been meant to be steps. before reading the article it was what I thought it was meant to be, or one end of a hopscotch game.

  • Its highly suspicious but we are looking at it from an adult perspective not a child’s

  • That is very funny – kids’ drawings often are misleading.

  • It is funny but… did everyone laugh and discuss this in front of Amelia??? She innocently thinks it’s a slide. The rude part is on the adults… and yes, it does look like a penis. But, no need to put that thought on a child.

  • Even when the child would have drawn a penis, so what ?

  • I would do the exact same thing!

  • Im sure we all will have moments like these. Its so funny.

  • Ah the innocent minds of young children. I’d save that until she is in her teens and ask her what she thinks of it. I know what I thought it was and I’m not talking about a rocket. What makes it seem more real is that she coloured it pink.

  • Oh dear. Well kids certainly make you laugh!

  • I love kids drawings and the pure innocence that shines through.

  • oh yeah I can see that, I was going to leave a comment saying for the teacher to get her mind out of the gutter hahah

  • My son has been drawing ‘penis people’ for a while. We can’t wait til he can see it.
