Hello!

A mum-of-two has revealed what she calls her her ‘magical’ method that helps birth a baby in just a few pushes.

Those of us who have laboured in the pushing stage for hours upon hours will know just how difficult it can be to get through that final hurdle of birth. We’re often exhausted from hours of labour and can’t muster the strength, or work out the best way to push out our babies.

One mum says after birthing two babies, she’s found the best way to teach yourself how to push – and it’s super simple.

She shared the tip on her TikTok account, Biscotti Babies, saying it will help you get your baby out in a ‘few pushes’. In fact, she says her first born, Amara, was delivered in just three pushes, all by using the ‘coughing’ technique.

“My magical method to push your baby out in just a few pushes … COUGH before you go into the hospital and focus on what muscles you used to cough in your abdomen! Use those muscles to push, it’s not the muscles you use to poo!”

She said used this technique when birthing both of her babies, and delivered them both in two or three pushes with no tearing.

We think this is a fabulous tip – well worth remembering!

  • Glad it worked for her but every women is different.

  • I’ve birthed 4 babies 3 of which were in under five pushes. There’s no secret to it it’s just how it works for my body. All my babies got bigger and my labours got shorter. I was lucky like that

  • It’s something that may work for some women and it’s not something that can harm the birth so I say why not try it. It’ll be interesting to know if it works for other women as well.

  • I’ll let my daughter know when she has her baby :)

  • What worked for her won’t work for everyone though?

  • Babies come out in all different positions just as we birth in different positions. This would not work for everyone.

  • This will not work for everyone as everyone is different and different situations

  • Interesting……… but im not going back for anymore so I won’t be trying it out haha

  • The best strategy is to breathe and think “floppy face floppy fanny”. Can guarantee your body will push involuntarily and the fetal ejection reflex takes over

  • I was very fortunate to birth my 3 babies from first contraction to out in less then 30mins. Im not sure if it was a method i used but i was active throughout my pregnancies and pushed bubs out very quickly the last one almost being born on the way to hospital. We made it just into the maternity ward and she came out.

    • Wow, you were very fortunate indeed !

  • Concentrating or thinking at the time can be very difficult – that’s half the problem.

  • Interesting… I guess you can practice how to use the muscle, but she made feel like a very easy task and I am sure at that moment nothing is easy

  • Great it worked for you !

  • My first was a traumatic natural and I’m quite sure the doctor at the time may have not made the best decisions. Epesiotomy, epidural, and third degree tear.

  • Unfortunately I never got to deliver my babies naturally so I never experienced labour, but I’d be super interested to see if this helps!

  • Not going through labour again, but would have certainly tried it during my labour had I known about it. I dont even know how many hours of active pushing I went through.

  • Each to their own and what ever works for you. I was in labour with my daughter for 36 hours and I wouldn’t have a clue how many times I pushed

  • I was in labor for 10 hrs with both my daughter and son, however he needed to a c section to deliver him

  • Whatever works for you I guess.

    Reply

  • Interesting. I honestly can’t remember how many pushes it took for any of my kids.
