Hello!

A mum from California, has found a very creative way to get her message across to her teenagers.

The mum writes handwritten notes on her kids’ lunch bags every day, but they’re not what you’d expect as a message from Mum at school.

The New Stepford blogger, shares the lunch bags on Instagram and she’s quickly developed a cult following from it.

She told Today she started doing the “passive aggressive lunch bags” for her 14-year-old daughter and 12-year-old son so she could share her most raw thoughts on the daily business of parenting.

Messages on the bags include “Just pretend it’s Chipotle,” “Fortnite is not a career choice,” “Clean up your room,” “Get off your phone,” and “I can’t wait for you to drive either.”

“It’s imperative to have humour with your kids,” she told Today.

“We joke about everything — sex, drugs, politics, their bodies — I don’t want them to think anything is taboo.”

She was inspired to share pictures of the bags online after her daughter’s classmates started asking to see them daily.

She is now even selling them online!

ANNOUNCEMENT! PassiveAggressiveLunchBags.com are on sale now. #LinkInBio I first started writing passive aggressive notes on my kids’ lunch bags because it was either that or poisoning them. My daughter convinced me they were funny and told me to start posting them on Instagram. I did and the reponse was overwhelming. People loved them and asked where they could purchase them. Which made no sense to me. “Why would you buy these? They’re just bags with funny sayings, ” I asked. “Because our lives our busy as shit and we have no time so please do it for us,” the moms said back. Well I love you and want you to be happy so I’ve launched passiveaggressivelunchbags.com. You can get a 10-pack for $9.99 + shipping. • Each to their own. Not something that I would have done to my kids as i think it would be quite embarassing for them.

  • I can’t understand why you would write these messages to TEENAGERS ! This is rather belittling !
I can understand you could write these to a young primary school kid.

  • I agree that there should be positive messages.

  • I know of a private school that supplies lunch bags for the Mums to write the kids’ lunch orders on and put money in. They supply a bulk supply, not just one at a time

  • it would be nice to see some positive comments like thanks for helping do the dishes last night rather than nagging ones.

    • Yes they are all negative …positive one would be much nicer. :-)

  • I’m not sure how I feel about these bags? Sure, they’re funny, but I think the kids would be a bit embarrassed by them and probably not read them anyways?

  • As long as the children do not mind. Interesting that she is selling them. Paper bags do not think are used very much in Australia.

  • Can imagine how much ribbing these children get from their school mates.
Also it is sooo interesting how American’s use paper bags as lunch containers. You see it in old movies and apparently they still do it.
