We’re all obsessed with the Netflix series Wednesday … but not as much as this mum, who named her daughter Wednesdaigh Adams.

Katie and her husband David Adams decided to name their fourth child Wednesdaigh after she was born on Halloween, in honour of the character Wednesday Addams. But after announcing their little girl’s arrival and name on Facebook, the negative comments came flooding in.

One of the main concerns is that she won’t be able to spell her name when she gets older, and Katie does admit many of her family members can’t spell her other children’s names: Ma’Kynnleigh, Emma’Leigh and Jaxx’syn.

“My friends love all their names and my family can’t spell them,” Katie told The Sun.

“Some people are like ‘well they won’t know how to spell their name because they are too long!’ Or ‘why did you spell it that way?’ So I do get a lot of questions about their names but it’s kind of just whatever, and I don’t really pay attention to most negative things.”

While the popularity of the fictional Addams family is at a high, Katie said she’s actually been waiting for years to name one of her children after Gomez and Morticia Addams’ daughter.

“We have always been Addams Family fans and all my kids love watching it. With my 2021 baby she was born a couple days after Halloween but if she would have been born on Halloween her name would have been Wednesday.

“When I found out my 2022 baby was going to be born on Halloween me and my husband agreed we would do Wednesdaigh.”

  • That’s a no for me, not my baby though.

  • Wednesday is hard enough to spell with out butchering it further.

  • Certainly unique spelling for all the kids names.

  • I feel so sorry for the child – don’t parents realise how cruel other children can be when all of them are at school. Just being called Wednesday would have been bad enough, but the weird spelling will make it worse.

  • When Wednesday first aired I said to my partner.. look out for all the new babies being called Wednesday… and here we are. Each to their own but personally i wouldn’t.. and if I did, I’d spell it correctly. Kods going to be spelling their name out their entire life. I have to do it and it gets annoying enough

  • I absolutely LOVE the new series and I’ve always loved the Addams family but I probably wouldn’t call a child Wednesday let alone Wednesdaigh, but each to their own I guess…

  • Kids will just pick a nickname for themselves

  • What you name your daughter is certainly up to you but she will always have her name spelt differently to what you have done. The thing is it’s just a name and if she doesn’t like it. when she is old enough she can always legally change it herself.

  • Good luck to those kids learning to spell their names

  • I don’t think it’s the wisest choice…. and I really think weird spellings are just a cruel thing to do to kids.

  • Omg who would do that to their child they will get bullied and picked on at school. That poor child

  • I hope the parents changed their names also to fool and hardy it would seem they want the child to be a life long victim of insult and ridicule . You should be caring and helping a child in life . And go get and education and learn how to spell.

  • Why? You’re definitely just setting your beautiful child up for years of ridicule.

  • To be honest I didn’t even blink when I heard the name it sounds like a normal name to me I’ve met lots of girls with the same name.

  • Never heard of this character/show, but sure is an unique name.

  • Wow, I think the mum needs to learn how to spell…

  • The poor kid. Would be passable if spelt correctly, but even so. It’s also a long name to have to spell out every time.

  • Personal choice for the family.

  • It’s not great… sounds very uneducated
