Im amazed that Dentists dont mention this to people when they book.

Adults and children who had a GP medical plan done by a registered nurse or doctor and signed by the doctor because of serious medical problems needing regular care used to be entitiled to free Dental. That was stopped. Some medical problems – and some medication taken for them damage your teeth, often making them very prone to loss of strength and damaged surface too

Good to know – we are with a private health fund so get free check ups and cleans every 6 months but this is good to know if anything goes wrong.

Good to see this is still running. We received this benefit when my son was in Year 7.

Any scheme to assist with dental care is a win for the community.

  Good information to spread amongst networks.

Wish they’d bring something similar in for old aged pensioners. I have managed to keep our private health cover so don’t need it, but so many pensioners are in agony because they can’t afford the dentist or else they don’t eat for a week.

Unfortunately, we are not eligible. It’d be helpful.

With the health insurance we are covered for dentist so we never used this benefit. I would have loved to use it for my daughter’s orthodontic treatment but that wasn’t possible. That’s a pity.

We get a letter about it each year

Unless it’s changed, that $1000 is to cover 2 years?

We use it, which reminds me I just got a reminder that they are die for their next check up lol

Since we came to live in Australia 9 years ago we’ve been using this government scheme and are thankful for it ! Coming from the UK where all dental cost for children till 18 years is free (including orthodontic care, like braces etc), we were keen to discover what schemes they have here. Dental care is so important !
