Learnt this when working as a barissta


Ingredients (serves 4)

  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder, sifted
  • 1/3 cup caster sugar
  • 8 cups low-fat milk
  • 1/2 teas peppermint essence
  • marshmellows optional

Method

  1. Combine cocoa and sugar in a jug. Whisk in milk and peppermint
  2. Transfer mixture to a saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring, for 6 to 7 minutes or until almost boiling
  3. Pour into mugs, if you want to add marshmellows you can

  • This is just what I need to defrost on these cold and wet Winter nights. I’d probably be lazy and make up the whole recipe and keep it in the fridge, then just heat a mug of it in the microwave.
