Homemade chocolate sandwich spread

This chocolate sandwich spread recipe is super quick, super easy, super tasty and only a little naughty compared with commercial chocolate spreads.

It is the perfect recipe to encourage kids to get involved in the kitchen which is great for so many aspects of their development; think reduced fussy eating, increased independence and confidence, motor skill development, and even maths.

Ingredients (serves 2)

2 Tbsp Tahini (unhulled) (for a nut free spread) or Peanut Butter (100% peanuts)
2 Tbsp Pure Cocoa
1 tsp Vanilla Extract

Method

Mix all ingredients together in a small bowl, spread onto a slice of grainy bread or toast and enjoy!

I must make some of this! I am very lucky to have a fruit and vege shop in Lancefield that makes peanut butter while you wait! You can have a choice of crunchy or smooth and it is cheaper than big brands such as kraft. It is made from peanuts – that is all no oil, sugar or salt is in it!

I’d try this with the peanut butter as tahini is too strong for me.

How long does it last? Or is it just a one time spread and then make again when you want it again? My kids are obsessed with Nutella and I don’t like how much sugar is in it but they love I so much I cave in. Plus it is expensive too and we go through so much of it! So I might give this a try and I bet they won’t notice the difference. Thanks for sharing!
