It’s the best thing since … ever!

Ingredients

  • Wonder® 5 Star bread slices
  • Silverside slices
  • Shredded carrot
  • Shredded cabbage
  • Sliced tomato
  • Chilli mayonnaise (or normal mayonnaise)
  • Pickles
  • Butter or margarine
  • Edible flowers, such as Violas and Nasturtiums

Method

  1. Assemble slaw by mixing shredded carrot and cabbage together with chilli mayonnaise (or normal mayonnaise).
  2. Butter, then sandwich press two slices of Wonder 5 Star bread with edible flowers on top one of the slices as decoration.
  3. Between toasted bread, layer silverside slices with tomato slices and a generous helping of the slaw. Add pickles for crunch.

  • Silverside is a favourite in my house so I don’t know how much leftovers I’d have to make this but this look so yummy and is really pretty too! I have edible flavours in my garden as bug deterrents but they’re bountiful so I should start to try and use them in the kitchen too. Thanks for the inspiration

  • How pretty and tasty. Eating with your eyes on another level. Can you buy the edible flowers from Coles etc? If you don’t have them growing in your home, can you just buy them? I want to try this. I Love silverside left overs, I’ve never thought to pop it in bread.

  • How pretty does this look! I love the sound of this – other than the silverside. I imagine it would work with ham as well

  • This looks so pretty! and I bet it tastes delicious as well. There’s honestly not much I like more than a great sandwich on some fresh bread and this one looks amazing. Fantastic way to use leftover silverside as well. I think this would be a definite winner in our house!

  • That’s absolutely beautiful! It would feel like eating art! I didn’t even realise that violets/pansies were edible- I have no idea what they taste like, almost too pretty to eat! There is some great flavour in this sandwich too. I am loving the addition of the chilli mayo for that extra kick!

  • Such a pretty sandwich with the edible flowers!

  • This looks lovely and the flowers give a festive and colourful touch, which makes it a wonderful idea for a special occasion. Personally I’m not a fan of mayonaise and pickles and wouldn’t eat silverside slices as a vegetarian, but you can easily play around with the filling and be creative.

    • It would also be such a good idea and also a tummy filler to serve up this sandwich with a colourful and healthy salad. It is so appealing to sit at a table with colourful and healthy sandwiches and salads. My favourite foods to eat in the warm Spring time weather.
