A father-of-two says he wants to divorce his wife after her decision to give birth for a second time made him feel ‘resentful’ towards her.

Sharing details on a Reddit thread, titled: ‘Am I the ***hole for wanting to divorce my wife for the birth of our second child’, the man wrote.

‘After the birth of our first child, I discovered that I don’t like being a father. I don’t feel that I am good at it,’ he wrote.

The man went on to say he’d told his wife he ‘never wanted to have another kid’ and as his first child got older he was looking forward to being able to spend more time with her ‘without a kid around’, shares Daily Mail.

‘I was also looking forward to being able to do more interesting things with our firstborn.’

When his wife fell pregnant with their second child, he said the pair discussed their options and settled on a decision to terminate.

However, on the day of the scheduled appointment, the man said his wife couldn’t go through with the procedure and ‘guilted him’ into keeping the child.

‘She was concerned about the physical and mental consequences. Now, two years on after the birth of our second, I still resent my wife. I love our kids more than I love her,’ he explained.

The post has since been deleted after receiving a mixed response from users. You can still read the responses to the original post.

Many argue it was not his decision to make and suggested maybe he should have had a vasectomy if he was so against having more children.

  • There is no rule that we must all have children and some people are just not in a place where they make good parents. I think it was actually very brave of him to discuss this with his wife and for him to see that he really wasnt suited. He spoke up and told her how he felt. I would much rather this then someone who simply had kids they didnt want and then abused them out of anger or hatred.
It probably would have been a good idea for him to have a vasectomy and then problem solved. He really should have been a stand up man and booked in for this as soon as they had decided there would be no more children. What form of contraception they used was not disclosed but hopefully it failed and wasnt something that the wife decided not to take in a plan to become pregnant.
Once pregnant what to do is something that a couple should discusss but the final word either way is the womans as it is her body.
This man should diviorce her and she should welcome it. He resents her and who on earth wants to be married to someone who resents you?

  • What a nasty little turd of a man. He doesn’t deserve his wife or his children.

  • Sounds like a child himself.

  • Just because you divorce your wife doesn’t mean you stop being a dad!

  • Maybe he should have had a vasectomy after the birth of his first child if he didn’t want any more. It’s a poor excuse for a divorce. Hopefully they will sort things out and the children won’t know the true facts about their parents reason for divorcing

  • This is not an ideal situation at all. Marriage is a partnership where both sides should be considered. Both partners needed to be on board when making such a huge life-changing decision that effects the whole family. There are bigger problems here.

  • What the! If he didn’t want kids why didn’t he have this conversation with his partner before they got married. They need to go to therapy and try and sort his issues out. No one needs to feel that they partner resents them. Definitely not an healthy relationship.

  • In this day and age there is no such thing as an ‘accident’. If you accidentally fall pregnant it’s because you had sex and didn’t take precautions. I don’t see how he thinks getting a divorce is a solution either – now he has kids he’ll always have kids it’s lot like he can get away from that responsibility. He seems very immature.

  • Gosh ! Do this couple even talk? It sounds as if they have a terrible relationship. They either need a whole load of counselling or to part ways. The poor kids :(

  • Think these two should agree on an amicable divorce – it ain’t ever going to work between them.

  • Wow. Really not sure about this article. It seems like there wasn’t much communication before they entered into a marriage and brought children into the world. These two are on totally different wavelengths.

  • My first reaction was sad, then what a jerk, then feel sorry for the wife and kids, then feel sorry for the wife again, no I don’t feel sad for him, it is his choice and he can live with it like many single parents who chose not to be but was left holding the baby so to speak. Some here mentioned counselling but it seems like he has just fallen out of love with his wife and is just making an excuse.

By the way why is MOM pushing Reddit now?

  • Oh my. Well, they should have agreed on this before she became pregnant for the second time. A vasectomy would have been preferable to an abortion for sure. Don’t know which side I am on though. :-(

  • This man had of course nothing to do with her getting pregnant ?! lol
Sounds like a selfish man to me, who likes to avoid carrying responsibility.
When he resents his wife so much for getting pregnant, she might be better off without him.
He says he loves his kids more then her, but one can question if that is real love or pure selfishness, so HE can spend quality time with them (not for them but for himself).
