Lazytown star Robbie Rotten has sadly died following a two-year battle with cancer.

Actor, Stefan Karl Stefansson, 43, who played the villain in the popular children’s TV show has been remembered lovingly by fans of the show.

The actor’s wife Steinunn Olina Porsteinsdottir, posted an emotional tribute to her “beloved” Lazytown star husband.

“Stefan’s family wants to express their gratitude for the support and warmth received in recent years, and to express their deepest sympathy to the many friends and fans of Stefan Karl,” she wrote.

Our thoughts are with Stefan’s family and friends.

I have watched many episodes with my children. Such a great character.

  • That’s way to young to die. I used to watch this show when my kids were young. They loved it & loved Robbie Rotten. Very sad :(

  • I was really sad to read this. He was a really good baddie!

  • So sad to lose a very talented personality who brought so much happiness to so many children….and the adults who also watched the show.

  • So sad to hear this news my little man and I would always laugh at Robbie rotten

  • This reminded me of my son’s childhood – Lazy Town was big as my son was just outgrowing it. So young to be lost to the world. RIP.

  • Ach, that is sad. I watched it a lot too when the kids were young. My thoughts go out to the family.

  • My deep condolences to Stefan’s family ????

  • Oh how sad, he was my (and my kids) favourite character in Lazytown. RIP Robbie Rotten

  • I used to follow Lazytown too when my daughter was young. 43. Way too young to die. :-(

  • It’s tough explaining to children why their favourite characters vanish from our screens or get replaced. They notice the difference..

  • oh no how sad for everyone that loved him

  • How sad! My little nephew will be devastated.
