As parents, we know that screen time is pretty much a given for every child, usually from an early age.

We worry about how much screen time is too much, which devices are right for our children and what programmes to install to make the devices safe for them to use. It’s a minefield of choices, comparisons and decisions!

Thankfully Samsung gets what we’re dealing with and have developed one nifty little device that ticks all the boxes … for parents and their children.

Introducing the Samsung Galaxy Tab A7!

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 comes with a Samsung Kids application that lets you shape a safe environment for your child to happily explore and connect with the world.

With Samsung Kids, parents can set limits on playtime as well as give access to specific contacts and apps, restricting what you don’t want your child to see. Samsung Kids even offers a usage report so you can see what your child’s doing, or make sure they’re only seeing what’s appropriate. Providing the ultimate peace of mind, that your child is playing and learning in a safe environment.

With family-friendly activities, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 will entertain and encourage your child to learn, develop and flourish.

What do parents think? We set up the Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Review to find out.

We sent MoM Member Debbie and her daughters the Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 and asked them all to give the device as well as Samsung Kids a full review. They’ve tried, tested and now they are ready to share their review.

We asked Debbie a bunch of questions to see whether the Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 passed the “Yes I’d Recommend” review test.

What were your first impressions of the Samsung Galaxy Tab A7?

“I loved the size of the tablet. It’s easier for the kids to use the tablet and press the buttons, and I loved that the screen was big and clear for when we made video calls.” Debbie shared.

What we love is that while the the Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 is a great size, it is LIGHTWEIGHT.  It offers a sophisticated, slimline design with a durable metal body and a total weight of under 500g, but still manages to include a 10.4″ display and quad speakers with Dolby Atmos surround sound.  You really can have the best of both worlds!

Tell us why you needed/wanted a tablet for the kids and family to use?

When we first spoke to Debbie about participating in the Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Review, she told us that she’d always wanted the girls to have their own tablet.  She wanted them to have some independence but always worried about them accessing inappropriate content.

“I loved that the Samsung had the Samsung kids app so I can leave the Tab A7 with the girls and feel comfortable that they can only access what I’ve allowed them to access via the parental controls”.

We were all with Debbie agreeing that giving your child their own device can be a daunting prospect, especially when we are constantly hearing about the dangers of the internet. This is where the Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 is ahead of the rest thanks to its Samsung Knox multi-layered security system which protects your child’s tablet at every level.

In addition to the inbuilt security features, switching the tablet into Samsung Kids mode can help get your children started on their digital journey in a safe way, with the ability to set restrictions on playtimes, apps, and contacts. It even offers usage reports so you see exactly their activity – no lying about homework here!

How easy was the Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 to set up and use?

Debbie’s response was exactly what every parent wants to hear!

“It was super easy to set up … nice and quick.” she responded.

What were your impressions of the Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 as a safe and educational learning tool for your kids?

“The fact that we can leave the girls alone with the Tab A7 and know that they can only access what we allow them to access is amazing! My 5 year old especially loves all the games on the Samsung Kids App.” Debbie told us.

We were intrigued so we dug a little deeper and discovered two education related benefits: It Can Help Improve Problem Solving Skills The Samsung Kids feature in particular makes finding suitable activities so easy. Games like Crocro’s Adventures is super fun, easy to use, and teaches problem-solving and critical thinking skills that will help be the building blocks for your toddler’s learning in the future.  If you notice your child is a ‘hands-on’ learner the Galaxy Tab A7 is great as your kid can press buttons, move images, and create sounds to suit their unique learning style perfectly and encourage them to persevere when faced with a new challenge.  It Can Help To Develop Focus And Concentration The Galaxy Tab A7 has an amazing screen and beautifully rich audio which bring learning to life. Your child will be totally immersed in the videos, apps, and games thanks to the wide and dynamic 10.4″ display and Dolby Atmos surround sound which will definitely help to maintain attention and focus. The Galaxy Tab A7 can help with toddlers’ memory, motor control, and problem-solving skills and you may notice the benefits for your child’s focus and attention will continue long after the tablet has been put away!

Were the safety, restriction settings and usage reports useful for you as a parent with two young children?

Yes great question! Most of us are always wondering exactly what the kids are looking at and doing when we’re not nearby!  Debbie said during their Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Review she found it really useful to see what the girls engaged with the most, what games they enjoyed and especially how long they were on the tablet.

Was the device beneficial for the whole family?

“The whole family used the device over and over! We all used it to make video calls to our family overseas, my kids were able to stay in contact with their friends during lockdown and also play learning games which was amazing!”

We love that when the kids aren’t on Samsung Kids, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 offers so much more. The 8MP main camera can be used for photographing projects and performances but can also double as a portable companion on nature walks and family holidays for high-quality pics in just seconds.

It’s also the perfect choice for a totally immersive cinema experience on the go keeping kids entertained on even the longest of car journeys.

Would you recommend the Samsung Galaxy Tab A7?

Debbie’s response to this was instant and resounding!

“Absolutely! I’ve already recommended it to friends and family.”

So there you have it.  A Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Review direct from another Mum just like you. It’s ticked all the boxes and offers the whole family from the youngest member a device that delivers at home, in the classroom and even in the office (if you can wrestle it from the kids).

With a price point of $379 RRP, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 is a stylish and affordable multitasking companion for the whole family.

A note from the MoM Team | We created the Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Review in partnership with Samsung.  Debbie had a Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 on loan for a few weeks to enable her and her family to test it out fully. After this period we interviewed Debbie for this article.

    • I find $379 quite dear when you have 4 kids. Our kids have devices between the $100 and $200

  • Such a handy tool that kids love to use. I just don’t like when I have to take the advice away. Makes me feel like it’s easier not to give it at all.
