Seven siblings have been adopted into the same family just in time for Christmas.
Foster parents Terri and Michael Hawthorn swore they would never adopt when they began looking after children four years ago.
But after spending time with the brothers and sisters, they changed their minds, reports The Mirror.
The couple adopted siblings Korgen and Haizlee in April, then worked to adopt their five other siblings.
The adoptions were finalised on December 3 after the two brothers and five sisters had spent almost three years in foster care.
Before joining Terri and Michael, from Arkansas, in the US, the children spent a lot of time moving between different homes and schools.
They say they did not always have a bed to sleep in or food to eat, according to KTHV.
“The only times we got to eat is when our neighbours would sneak us a bag of chips,” Kyndal said.
“We didn’t have a can opener, and they’d give us the cans that we didn’t know how to open. So sometimes we just didn’t eat.
“This has been the best Christmas I could ever have, actually knowing I have a mum and dad.”
“When I got here I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, we get our own beds,’” Layna said.
“It feels so great knowing we have a family now and won’t have to go anywhere else,” Dawson, the oldest sibling, said.
