I feel really disheartened lately to see how people are communicating with each other. Social media seems to have created this forum where people debate things in black and white, forget they are talking to other human beings and forget that what they are saying, no one who has any contol over it is actually seeing or listening. I dearly wish that there was more open public debate about vaccination and gay marriage rather than it feeling like it is confined to nasty battles on social media forums where friends become enemies.

  • Social media has de humanised the human race. We no longer see a person with feelings, just a computer screen.

  • i understand that you want a place to have a civil and respectful debate but every topic that is sensitive, ends up in below the belt jabs and doesn’t progress anybody’s views. Also a lot more arrogance and people thinking that their way is the right way, there are a lot of narrow, close minded people spewing their negative opinions and many times they are doing this without education or facts to back up their arguement. lol People need to learn conflict management in schools and also need to be learning to comprimise. I think that if people were taught a bit of pyscology and tact at school, that might carry on into the big world. If people are negative and at the end of the day, can’t agree to disagree, forget about them!

SORRY FOR ALL THE SPELLING MISTAKES! i am getting rusty lol

    • Good idea about teaching conflict management in schools and it would also be good in other places too; such a workplaces. These are skills that benefit everybody in the community and can be applied to all situations.

  • People can and should have different opinions-it makes us individual and unique. The key thing is to express one’s opinions in a respectful manner. I do not participate in negative forums and sites as it is a waste of precious time. Generally I have found most sites and forums to be reasonable with only a few people being rude and disrespectful to other people. These people do not stay and move on to something else. I appreciate different opinions.

  • I agree that people are far ruder than they’d be in person.

  • yes i understand that we are being reduced to a number online and it is so impersonal but i will also say.. that this is another way for businesses to interact or not. I am trying really hard to get an issue solved with an acc that i have that a business closed on me. They are not responding so i think this is rude! No emails and social media ignorance. Don’t they realise that this is bad for their business as other people are getting ignored too. In the old days. people cared about customer service, people cared about their neighbours! Now days, it is a lot easier to be rude or ignorant and forget that there are real people at the other end Sorry for ranting a bit off topic!

  • Yes social media can get very nasty. I lost a friend who had a different opinion to me on social media. I was prepared to respect our differences , his idea was his way or the highway
