Radio host and well loved comedian, Em Rusciano, announced the heartbreaking news of her recent miscarriage and we all just want to hug her tight.

*Trigger warning – this post discusses miscarriage and infant loss*

Em’s post has touched the hearts of thousands. Literally. Nearly 50,000 people have reacted to her heart wrenching words.

Em shared, “About 10 weeks ago I got the most wondrous surprise. I found out I was pregnant. I was going to announce it this Monday as we’d hit 13 weeks, but instead I will be at home in the most exquisite pain I can possibly fathom. Yesterday I found out that my little boy, was lost to me.” They named their little boy, Ray.

Em said she doesn’t think she can withstand the heart break she is going through.

“To the Mothers who have gone through this kind of loss and found a way out of it, I’m in awe of you, I need to know how you got through it because I need to see some light under the door soon.”

We are all very saddened by Ems news but also just in total awe of her honesty and her willingness to be so open about ‘Baby Ray’.

It is so important to speak up and not let the stigma around infant loss and miscarriage continue.

In February a grieving mum shared her own miscarriage experience to encourage others to break the stigma and talk about it more. Read her story here.

  • very tough thing for any mother to go through and it can be hard not to blame yourself and analyze everything that you did while pregnant

  • What a terrible tragedy. I feel so very sorry for Em.

  • I hope the public respect their privacy to allow them to grieve as they need to.

  • Sorry to hear about your loss Em, bless you ! I miscarried 3x and at the time was really sad and upset. Take the time to grieve and maybe with some symbolic give it a place. I planted trees in my garden and found comfort in sharing about it with my friends and loved ones. It is now years ago and not a pain point anymore. When I tell my kids about it they are excited to meet the siblings they never met one day in heaven :)

  • Greatest sympathy to Em and family. It does get easier as time passes, but there is nothing any one can say that will take away the pain at the moment. Good luck, it does get better.

  • I wish I could give her the biggest hug!

  • It doesn’t exactly get better, but it does get easier to get through (most) days.

  • It is heartbreaking and sometimes there are no words to bring comfort. The love and support of friends and family does help. Every sympathy to Em and family.
