A Sydney mum has welcomed the ‘biggest baby ever’ at the Blacktown hospital.

Nikki Bell, 28, used no pain relief as she had Parker James Bell at Blacktown Hospital on Thursday.

He tipped the scales at 5.755kg, or 12lb 6oz, when he was born at 39 weeks and three days.

“My first baby went until 41 weeks and 3 days — lucky I didn’t go that far he would have been 6kg plus,” mum Nikki told the Daily Telegraph.

Parker’s arrival has made headlines around the country, after his birth was shared on the Blacktown Midwifery Group’s Facebook Page.

“New record,” the post read.

“We are happy to report the not so little Parker and Mum Nikki are doing well. Welcome to the world Parker, you’ll be the talk of Blacktown Maternity for a long time to come.”

The post has attracted over 2600 reactions and comments, and more than 640 shares.

Congrats mum, Gorgeous bubba!

  • Wow!!! Congratulations. You expect to hold a little newborn. I’d love to know what size clothes he is wearing already. Nikki is very lucky she didn’t have to have a c-section.

  • Congratulations to Nikki and I loved your comment that the first baby made it easier for this one. My biggest baby, a mere 8lb5oz compared to yours of over 12lb, was my easiest to deliver and should have been a Cesarean, because my earlier child had been an emergency Cesarean, but he wouldn’t wait for the doctor to get to the hospital. However he was the easiest of all four of my children to deliver as a natural birth – no stitches or any problems at all, but I did have the most wonderful midwife and I also did not need any pain killers, epidurals or anything. A very easy birth for my heaviest – the lightweights were the problem for me.

    • Bringing a baby into the world is hard work regardless of size. :)

  • I often wonder if being over sized at birth is as bad as being under sized.
