Babies may be small, but these beautiful little beings create a whole bunch of mess, especially when it comes to their gorgeous clothes and bedding!

Our baby’s wardrobe usually rivals our own, but from drool to food and poop their little outfits get quite the workout in the laundry. So we’re diving into the world of baby stains, looking at the most common culprits and how to tackle them so your little one’s clothes and bedding stay looking clean and fresh.

The Baby Stain Guide

Before we tackle how to clean the most common baby clothing stains, let’s have a look at what they are:

  • poop
  • wee
  • drool
  • spit-up (or vomit)
  • baby food
  • breastmilk
  • formula

It’s a pretty hefty list, but there’s no need to invest in a huge range of stain removers or detergents – Euky Bear Baby Laundry Liquid has all of these stains and more covered.

Infused with 100% Australian Eucalyptus oil, this plant powered formula removes everyday stains while being kind on your baby’s skin. It’s hypoallergenic and proven gentle on sensitive skin, but it’s tough on those stubborn baby stains! That’s due to the grime-busting power of antibacterial eucalyptus oil, sourced from Euky Bear’s farm in Victoria.

It also contains no harsh ingredients: no synthetic fragrances or dyes, no bleaches, no optical brighteners, no enzymes, no zeolites, no sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS) and no added phosphate.

As well as removing everyday baby stains like milk, food and nappy stains, it also gets rid of dust mite allergens. It’s perfect for cold and warm washes and front and top loaders, can be used from newborn (or to wash their adorable outfits before they even arrive) and is also suitable for use on modern cloth nappies.

Now let’s take a closer look at those stains!

Poop

If bub has had a blowout, run the clothing or bedding item under cold water to get rid of as much poop as you can, then pop it into the washing machine and wash it as soon as possible. If you can’t wash it straight away, just toss it into some cold water to soak until you’re ready to put the washing on. Once it’s washed, hang it out in the sun.

Wee

Treat wee the same as poo – rinse it under cold water as soon as you can, then wash immediately. If it’s an older wee stain, add some Euky Bear Baby Laundry Liquid directly to the area and let it soak in cold water for 30 minutes before washing as normal.

Drool

A teething baby means plenty of drool, but thankfully this is one of the easiest things to clean! Just a normal wash with Euky Bear Baby Laundry Liquid will remove any sign of drool.

Spit Up

Baby clothes, bibs and burp clothes can end up stained and smelly if they’re not laundered properly once they come in contact with baby spit up. Whether your baby is breastfed or formula, treat these stains the same, soak in a little Euky Bear Baby Laundry Liquid for 30 minutes, and then launder as usual.

Breastmilk/Formula

If the stain has been created by spillage from the breast or bottle, rinse the clothing in cold water as soon as you can, then wash as usual.

Baby Food

Once your baby starts eating solids, there’s a whole new world of stains to tackle. But there’s no need to turn to harsh detergents, Euky Bear Baby Laundry Liquid will continue to be your best friend in the laundry! If the stain looks like it will be particularly stubborn, just add a little of the laundry liquid directly to the area before laundering.

Just remember to always check colour fastness and always follow garment care instructions.

Top Tips For Tackling Baby Stains

Here are our top tips for tackling baby stains, so they don’t become a big pain!

  1. Rinse the stain as soon as you can: If possible, get to that stain by blotting with water before it sets in.
  2. Remove the chunks! If there are chunks of food (or other unmentionables!) just make sure to get it off the clothing by using cold running water.
  3. Pre treat some stains: If it looks like it’s going to be a problem stain, just pop a little Euky Bear Baby Laundry Liquid directly on the area before washing or soaking.
  4. Choose the right detergent: From delicate newborn onesies to trashed toddler clothing, using a detergent specifically designed to tackle the stains, like Euky Bear Baby Laundry Liquid, is the key.
  5. Hot or cold wash? This depends on the stain. Cold water should be fine to remove most stains, but greasy baby oil or chocolate may need a hot wash to help melt the stains. Euky Bear Baby Laundry Liquid can be used in a hot or cold wash cycle.

  • So many stains! I can’t remember how old my son was before white was okay for him to wear!

  • Great for whites, but please don’t use this for coloured clothing especially knitted garments. The Eucalyptus in it will also take out the coloured dyes in the original garment.

  • I started using Omo Ultimate liquid stain remover when kids were babies and I still use it. It’s the only thing I’ve found that really works!

  • I’ve been looking for something like this that won’t hurt my daughters sensitive skin. Having eczema she often gets irritated when I use anything stronger to remove stubborn stains. I will be giving this a try for sure.
