We asked YOU on Facebook what your favourite playgrounds in Canberra are, and thanks to some brilliant local knowledge here is a list of Canberra playgrounds you HAVE to visit!

1. Kambah Adventure Playground

Kambah Playground also known as the ‘Adventure playground’ is the perfect place for toddlers, juniors and teenagers to let off some steam.

This playground has every type of play equipment that you can imagine from swings to see saws to slides.

This park is the best place for a fun day out with the whole family so bring your PICNIC gear because you might be there awhile.

2. Boundless Canberra

Boundless Canberra is a unique playground that caters to different levels of ability.

It is a place where children can socialise, play, be challenged and have a great time!

This park is a state-of-the-art play space that you MUST visit! It has all the facilities (toilets, shade, picnic tables and car parking) you could need for a worry free day out with the family.

3. Black Mountain Peninsula Playground

This playground sits on 22.2 hectares of foreshore and parkland and looks out onto the picturesque Lake Burley Griffin.

This park is the ideal spot to go for a swim, paddle or just a stroll along the waters edge.

Remember to bring your sailboats, surfboards or kayaks down so you can explore the waters edge. This park comes complete with BBQs, picnic tables and play equipment. It has everything you need to keep the adults and kids entertained for a day.

4. Yerrabi Ponds District Park

Yerrabi Ponds District Park has all the play equipment your kids DREAM of including a Giant Tarzan swing, Double/Tandem Flying Fox, Burmese Bridge, skateboard arena and more!

This is the ideal spot for a relaxing day out and you could even bring your bird feed and feed the ducks!! This is a MUST see park to add toy your list for Canberra that won’t disappoint!

5. The Aboretum Grounds & Pod Playground

Pod Playground features giant acorn and banksia pod cubbies that your kids will not be able to resist!

This park is designed to challenge and excite. Pod Playground aims to encourage children to climb, explore and have fun.

The POD playground is a MUST do experience for your kids that will leave a smile on their face for weeks. Don’t forget to bring the camera because you’ll be sure to take some great shots!

6. Crace Recreation Park

With everything from basketball courts, tennis courts, cricket nets, state of the art outdoor gym, playgrounds, BBQs and picnic tables this park is sure to be a winner for people of all ages.

This is the ideal park for sports lovers. You can play every type of sport imaginable because of the wide open spaces and hard courts.

Bring your kids down to this park to kick the ball around or to use the playground. The park offers a variety of activities and is perfect for big families.

7. John Knight Memorial Park

This beautiful park is surrounded by trees and secluded walkways with waterways winding underneath.

It features a beautiful waterfall and pond area that is pleasant to sit by and watch the kids explore.

This park is ideal for long strolls, and picnics. The playground features an epic snakes and ladders theme throughout and contains play equipment suitable for toddlers children and tweens.

The park is peaceful and a great place for the kids to come and play!

  • Queanbeyan has some good smaller kids playgrounds by the river. They are fenced so kids can’t get too far and there’s a bbq at one of the foe a lunch gathering. Not that exciting for bigger kids though.
    Commonwealth Park is a fun place to walk around with the family. We used to roll down the hill at regatta point.

  • Only problem is that while the playgrounds might be awesome, they’re still stuck in Canberra! :P
