Warning to parents over the dangers of kids charging iPads and phones.

The Firefighting Australia Facebook page shared this very important message.

“Research has revealed that 53% of children charge their phone or tablet either on their bed or under their pillow. This is can be extremely dangerous.

The heat generated cannot dissipate and the charger will become hotter and hotter.

The likely result is that the pillow/bed will catch fire –placing the child (as well as everyone else in the property) in great danger.

Think….where do you & your family charge your moblie phone?”

  • Tablets and phones are charged in the lounge room in our house.

  • We have 2 areas in the kitchen where phone chargers are set up. That way anyone can charge there phone and we all know where the chargers are at all times.

  • OMG, I can’t believe people do that. We have a charging station for all of our devices and/or always charge our devices out in the family area on a table or hard surface. This is frightening and a discussion we’ll be having with our teen son to ensure he knows this is never an option.

  • Wow, that’s very scary! Definitely need to pay attention to where you leave the charger.

  • Scary! Something we don’t think about

  • Thank you for the warning. I charge my phone on the kitchen bench.

  • We charge our’s in the kitchen!

    • We have a charging station in the kitchen too. :)

  • Oh my. No charging in bed, absolutely. We generally charge everything on the kitchen bench.

  • We’re pretty careful, but I’ll be double checking now.

  • Absolutely we have a special place for all technology and for charging devices. Phones and devices never ever go on beds or on any soft furnishing – never ever allowed ever!

  • So dangerous and this article is a real eye opener thank you
