Say goodbye to Barbie and Bratz – this doll promotes a positive body image and parents say they’ll never look back.

Kmart mums have found a new gem in store that is not only affordable, but promotes positive body image and inclusivity as well. The Anko Glamour Doll is  specifically designed to reflect healthy body proportions – no tiny waist, ridiculously long legs or perfectly toned tush in sight!

Normal Human Size

Not only are the dolls incredible value for money but additional clothing items will set you back a mere $2. They were discovered just two months ago when a Kmart Mums Australia Facebook member posted about them on the page news.com.au reports. “Spotted these Glamour Dolls today,” she said, “Same height as Barbie but twice the width i.e. normal human size. How good!” Members of the group were quick to respond with many saying they would definitely be picking up dolls for their children on their next trip to the store. “Compared to Barbies who have waist to hip and bust ratios that are completely abnormal and would not be naturally possible on most humans, these dolls have more realistic figures,” wrote one mum. Another said the natural makeup look on Glamour Dolls was a positive move – definitely a long way from super contoured Bratz dolls that’s for sure!

The dolls are available in both male and female versions, as well as a range of skin and hair colours. We think they are a huge improvement on past attempts to create a more body positive doll (who could forget Mattel’s size 10 ‘Curvy Barbie’?) so you better get in quick – now Kmart mums know about them, they won’t last long!!

  • Why are their faces all the same?!
Can’t really beat an original barbie no matter what people think it is promoting body image wise. I don’t think kids think about that thing at that age as my friends and I were talking about this the other day and none of us even thought about what our bodies were like in comparison to ours!

  • Oh I love these! Definitely a move in the right direction. I’m sure the whole Barbie/bratz thing is the cause of so many eating and emotional disorders. If only my kids were not grown up already I would rush out to buy one. Just have to wait for grandchildren lol.

  • Knew about these dolls before Christmas, but was unable to buy them for my neighbour’s children. Do hope they are still available as I will buy them for their birthdays.

  • makes sense. Glad they haven’t gone to the other extreme of fabricating obese dolls .. have they?…..(since I still believe that is not a normal human condition but a product of today’s world).
