A Victorian mother has captured the moment a deadly eastern brown snake approached her toddler while she was taking a photo.

Bianca Dickinson was taking a photo of her two-year-old daughter Molly when she noticed something move, assuming it was a leaf in the wind.

Just a few seconds later she realised it was in fact a dangerous eastern brown snake passing by her daughter just centimetres away.

“I can’t believe it didn’t touch her,” Ms Dickinson wrote in a post on Facebook.

“Once I was home, I checked my camera and found this shot.”

  • Fortunately your beautiful little girl stood still so the snake didn’t sense any movement. Had you realised and called her, it may have been disastrous.

  • Wow! This photo makes me feel a little ill! I can only imagine how scary it would have been to see the snake in the photo. Very lucky little girl. I have also had near misses with snakes and it churns the stomach and then there is relief.

  • She is so lucky as it is literally an arms length away from it.
