This holiday season will be the first one celebrated apart since their break-up for a high profile celebrity couple in the entertainment industry.

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon are working together to co-parent across the memories of divorce and provide a picture perfect Christmas for their 4 year old twins, Moroccan and Monroe.

In a recent interview with E!News Mariah disclosed that co-parenting was a definite learning process, “We are all just learning as we go and we are doing the best we can.  It’s all about the kids.  That’s it!”

As for their family traditions and Christmas plans?  Mariah explained that, “Santa Claus comes every year and we have real reindeer.  We really have too many traditions to name!  We go on a two horse open slay and usually spend Christmas in Aspen so we can have a white Christmas – it is really nice!”

Certainly sounds like a picture-perfect white Christmas is in store for the whole family!

  • One of the main issues I have witnessed is when one parent really spends too much money on presents and the other doesn’t have the resources to buy much at all. Sometimes a child is confused and thinks they parent that gave him/her lots of presents loves them more.
I have also seen cases where one parent tries to “buy” a child’s love even though no other contact is made with the child even though it is accepted that it should occur.

  • Great to hear that Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon are working together to co-parent across the memories of divorce ! I don’t have the experience myself, but my neighbour and her ex show a great example. The 4 kids live 4 days per week by her in the house they grew up in and 3 days by dad. Both parents have a new relationship, but still share their love and care for the kids evenly. They help each other out and pop in into each others house, not only during the holiday season but also during the week. At Christmas dad was there, even when mums new partner was there as well. Respect !!

  • Co-parenting must be so hard. In particular at this time of the year. I’m glad to hear Mariah Carey and her husband are trying to do their best for their kids.
