URGENT RECALL Issued for Nanna's Apple Pie

A recall has been issued for Patties Foods Ltd, Nanna’s Family Apple Pie (600g, Best Before dates 21 Oct 2020 and 22 Oct 2020 only) from Coles, Woolworths, IGA’s, Foodlands and other independent supermarkets throughout Australia.

FSANZ have advised consumers that the product may contain glass.

Problem: The recall is due to the potential presence of glass in an ingredient used in the 600g Nannas Family Apple Pie. This is a result of an equipment failure with the supplier. No other Nanna’s products are affected by this recall.

Food Safety Hazard: Food products containing glass may cause injury if consumed. The company has initiated a recall of the affected batches as a precautionary measure.

What to do: Customers should not eat this product. They should return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Why don’t they notice these problems before the product has left the warehouse. They need more checkers so that it is found before too much damage has been done

When things like this happen I always wish they would give more information… like how ONLY this type of pie is affected and why the small individual ones aren’t; how the accident happened; what dates on the pies are a problem (since they have presumably sorted it out and started making more)….. and also what the glass fragments look like… are they tiny pieces or large enough that you’d spot them.. while they might not know perhaps they could at least send a photo of the one that was reported. Why can’t we get this information?

Thanks for the warning. A lot of people buy these to have with cream, icecream or custard as a quick dessert (I like it cold in Summer)
