A busy mum of an energetic two-year-old,Natalie Zeimer knows how hard it can be to make sureher toddler’s little body is getting thesupport it needs. But she’s relieved to have found a simple way to supplement his healthy diet.

Natalie’s toddler Aster has been trying out a2 Gentle Gold™ Premium toddler milk drink for the past few weeks.

It’s made with pure and natural a2 Milk® so it’s easier on digestion and may support tummy comfort for some* and is specially formulated to supplement a toddler’s healthy diet from 1 year, when their dietary intake may be inadequate.

“I like the idea that there are vitamins in this, because sometimes I find it really hard to know how much of the goodness is actually staying in him.” Natalie told Mouths of Mums.

“Just feeling like you can actually get extra into his little body is always reassuring.”

a2 Gentle Gold® Toddler milk is fortified with 16 vitamins and minerals to help support toddlers during a time of rapid growth and development**. It doesn’t contain any artificial flavours, colours, preservatives, artificial growth hormones or antibiotics.

It contains:

  • Prebiotic GOS and Omega-3 DHA
  • Vitamins A, C, D, iron and folate to support immune system function
  • Calcium contributing to digestive enzyme function
  • Iron, zinc and iodine to support cognitive function

Natalie explained that it’s a convenient way to help support Aster, who is always on the go.

“It’s really easy to do. We also have really busy lifestyles, because my daughter does, like, dance competitions and gymnastics and swimming into so many things that she’s got something all the time. Sometimes, you know, when you just think quick, and instead of going and grabbing, like, a pack of chips or something like, this literally takes like, 30 seconds and, like, it’s on your way.”

The mum-of-two says it’s also handy that a2 Gentle Gold Toddler® milk is the right consistency for toddlers learning to drink from a cup.

“It’s also not thick. Because he’s still young, so obviously he’s only just sort of started sipping from a cup and things like that. And I feel like if it was quite thick, he would just wear it, like it would go everywhere. But it really is the same sort of consistency of a milk. It’s not bulky, it dissolves exactly the way that it should. So it’s easy for little ones to drink.”

Natalie’s entire family recently caught the flu, and her main concern was making sure Aster continued to get some vitamins and minerals into his system.

“Because he wasn’t really eating, at least it was getting something into him. So this was really good.”

Natalie says she recommends a2 Gentle Gold® Toddler milk for toddlers.

*made exclusively with a2 Milk®, which naturally contains only A2-type beta-casein protein so may be easier on digestion for some milk intolerant individuals when enjoyed as part of a healthy, varied diet.

**This milk drink should be consumed alongside a healthy diet, which contains a variety of foods, from the five everyday food groups.

  • It is not always as simple as that, some children have issues with food and sensory issues and not all kids fit into one box, it is important to remember that. Be opened minded and remember just because your child ate a balanced diet doesn’t mean every other parent has it as easy as you do. Many factors can be the cause of food issues and a product like this could offer help to those parents.

  • Great article and feedback from this mum. For those parents who had kids with food issues/sensory issues, a product like this is so important as I know first hand the struggles I have had with my child and ensuring she has all the nutrients she needs to grow and develop. Although this is expensive and not affordable for everyone, if you can afford it, I recommend it as it is peace of mind for me with my child and her food issues.

  • I don’t think that formula for toddlers is necessary. Give them a balanced diet to keep their health.

  • I think this is an unnecessary expense. At this age I would expect the toddler to be on more natural and everyday foods which have all the vitamins and minerals they need. I think natural whole foods are best. I suppose there may be case where a child is extremely picky or allergies but for me it’s a no.

  • Amazing that toddlers are still being given formula when they should be having solids and more ‘normal’ type meals that the rest of the family is eating. I also worry that these formula powders have too much sugar in their make-up which is why toddlers prefer it to a regular glass of milk on its own with no added flavourings. Even the bought prepared baby food has a lot of sugar in it these days.

  • I’m not convicted toddlers should be having formula, there’s a lot of research saying there’s too much sugar in them and it’s having long term negative impacts. But I’m also blessed with a robust food lover and am so breastfeeding him. If that was not the case, I certainly understand the desire to ensure they’re getting a nutritionally balanced supplement.

  • I honestly can’t remember which formula I used for my kids. I can only remember that with my first and fourth (who were both premature). I used a formula that was advised by the paediatrician and which was fortified with a booster. I breast fed my other babies. We didn’t give our kids formula as toddlers.
