We were so excited to hear Sonia Kruger’s very special news over the weekend.
The Big Brother host announced that she and partner Craig McPherson are expecting their first child together, a baby girl.
Taking to Twitter, the always elegant star posted:
“Hey everyone. Here’s a fun fact…I’m having a baby! #overjoyed #newhousemate”
This will be the first child for Kruger, who has been open in the past about her struggle to have a child after suffering several miscarriages and going through numerous rounds of IVF.
“I’ve conceived naturally a couple of times and miscarried pretty early in the piece. My doctor was very clear with me… women who are 45 or older have pretty much zero chance of conceiving naturally,” she explained.
It was for this reason that Sonia and Craig decided to use a donor egg. ‘‘I wanted to be really clear today on the show with our viewers and let everybody know that I did go through IVF and I did have an egg donor,’’ said Kruger on yesterday’s episode of Mornings.
The couple could not be more excited about the impending arrival and are incredibly appreciative of the gift their friend gave them.
‘‘I think it’s entirely possible to be as in love with a baby that doesn’t necessarily share your DNA, as it is when you adopt a child and you fall in love with that child,’’ she said.
Sonia, who turns 49 on Thursday, will be back on our television screens in September when the new season of Big Brother starts, and we can’t wait to see her baby bump grow.
