  • No thanks. Can’t afford a cruise anyway but if we could we would never go on one. Really think Cruises are like ball pits at a play cafe, full of germs and a breeding ground for gastro and colds. They are also very expensive so not really affordable for the average wage earner.

  • I’ve never been on a cruise but it’s definitely something I’d like to try. My husband is more reluctant- he’s convinced we’ll all get sick – but it sounds like such an easy holiday to please the whole family. I love the idea of not having to lug a suitcase around.

  • Our family loves cruising and always looking for a good deal for the next cruise! We love not having to clean or cook and be able to do as much or as little as we want!
There’s absolutely something for everybody on a cruise. We’re planning for our next cruise to be to NZ!

  • I’ve done a couple of cruises and while it was great when the weather was sunny and calm which allowed us to explore the islands while in the South Pacific – it was a different matter when in New Zealand with high swells, driving rain and winds which meant we had approximately 5 extra sea days. Be prepared for all conditions is my suggestion.

  • Cruising is an incredible way to travel and holiday! I have been cruising since I was young, met my now husband on a cruise and we finally got to take our two children on a cruise last year! Of course they absolutely loved it and they ask us daily when we’re going on the next one! I love that you don’t have to worry about cooking meals, everything is in one spot & you can actually relax! A massive win!

  • I have to agree that I think cruising is a great holiday. I love that we unpack once and then relax. Everything is done, cooking, cleaning, entertainment. I think I’ll have to get to and book one again soon. The trouble is that the food is so nice and at hand that we eat way too much.

  • Love love love cruising! You can choose to do as much or as little as you like. I love the quizzes and activities and the like and I’m not one for laying around the pool but each to their own. Can’t wait to try a cruise in the future with my small grandchildren for a different perspective but as I’m a kid at heart I can’t wait for the fun times ahead!!!

  • I have to agree cruising is a great holiday. Unpack once and be taken from place to place, simply relax and enjoy – now that’s what I call a holiday!! I think the price of cruises has come down which makes it more accessible, but I would hate to be on board if there was a contagious virus!

  • My only concern with going on a cruise is having enough time to explore new and interesting places. It would be good to know if people of this community that take cruises find they have enough time to explore places at their own pace or if the time is quite tight when at ports.

  • O!nce you’ve cruised you never want to travel any other way. Great way to see so many different places without having to lug around your suitcases or find somewhere to eat. Love cruising

  • The whole idea of packing for a trip and then unpacking on board a cruise is truly quite appealing. We do like to have a good and comfortable base and then love to explore without worrying about luggage and clothing and other bits and pieces needed for travel and trips.

  • I am longing to go on a cruise.
I really want to do one of the 21 day cruises to the US. It sounds amazing but that being said I have never been on one and do wonder if I would struggle with sea sickness which would be a real downer

  • Thanks for sharing these views. The article make cruising sound nice, but it is most certainly not for everyone. Personally I don’t feel to spend a length of time with a group of tourists and to be kind of locked up a boat makes me feel claustrophobic (there is simply no escape). Besides this we prefer to explore the nature on foot or per skies and like to decide where we go our selves

  • Great post. Makes me want to go on another cruise. Organising the trip is a chore plus getting to the cruise terminal is a nightmare. I do however love the farewell party, the ample entertainment and food already paid for.. There’s always something to do and see onboard as per the daily itinerary. Just make sure you go with good company or else the trip is sour. You won’t be able to escape the people. Don’t forget your travel sickness tablets before you board because you won’t want to stay on board and your trip will kind of be ruined. If the boat is rocky, you won’t enjoy the trip much. You learn the boat inside out from all the activities you explore in there and get a good workout if your trying to lose weight.

  • Everyone seems to say that cruises are the best way to have a holiday! My mother in law swears by them, as does a work colleague. I had wondered if I would feel bored when at sea, but they seem to have reams of entertainment, so it does look really fun!

  • I have done cruises to Australian destinations and Vila/Noumea and would like to do more. New Zealand is next on my wish list.

  • Really great tips here. A travel agent can be invaluable for cruise bookings. The biggest tip, have your pick up and drop off sorted. Don’t worry about getting yourself there or home, have your travel agent sort it out. And splurge on some extras. Do that excursion! Upgrade your cabin! Or get that drinks package! It’s a holiday you’ll never forget
